A man was having an issue in his relationship. He was having a problem “molding” the woman he was having a relationship with into what he wanted her to become. While I was listening to him speak, I discerned that his thought was that he knew what was best for the woman. So, when the woman does not cooperate with his agenda, he gets frustrated. I sensed so much ego in this man. He did not see that he has made himself the God of the woman. He manipulates her and he did not see his own manipulation. He was desperately trying to get happiness from the woman and consequently living with the fear of losing the woman. His ego will feel diminished if he loses the woman, hence, the ego employs manipulative tactics to prevent the woman from leaving.
But this man did not his ego in action which was also a contributing factor to the strain in the relationship. How could he see that which he has identified with? There was no awareness that could see the actions of his ego. In essence, he became one with his ego.
To dissolve the ego you have to disidentify with the ego. To disidentify with the ego, you have to identify it, see it. To see the ego, you have to be Present. It is in your Presence that space is created around the ego. That space will enable you to see the ego and its mechanisms. Here you are unaffected by the situation and there is your ego almost constantly threatened by the situation. As long as the ego possesses you, and you take yourself to be the ego, it will be difficult if not impossible to dissolve it. When you are ego-possessed, you will constantly pamper, protect, and defend the ego. To see the ego, you have to be honest to yourself. This honesty will be brutal to the ego.
The ego is rooted in lack so it is always acting with fear in the background. It is never driven by pure love but turns almost everything into a means to an end. You are helping the girl with her school fees so that she can end up being your wife. You do not see the self-enhancement going on as well as the possession. Can you step back and observe the ego?

“If the ego is negative, can’t I change it into a positive one?” No. The ego can pretend to be positive but only for a while. Anyone who is present can see through its pretense. The ego is always acting from a state of fear so it cannot be truly positive. To be free from the ego, dissolve the ego. Dissolve the ego and your Being will take the front seat that is due to it. This process will take a while. You have lived under the control of the ego for decades. Dissolving such that its control tends to zero will not be instant. Inside you will be a battle, mind versus Being. As your Being tries to come forward, your ego feeling threatened will fight and it will fight hard. You are likely to experience “withdrawal symptoms.” However, the more Present you are, the more dissolution there will be.

In the process of dissolving the ego, some things can occasionally trigger the ego such that it emerges with intensity. After a few of such episodes, you may wonder if you will ever be free of the ego. But that which sees the ego is not the ego. Formerly, you could hardly see the ego after it has taken possession of you, now you frequently see it even after it has gotten over you. That is your Being coming forward. If you continue being Present, the ego will find it more difficult to overcome you. Remember that you cannot be free of the ego in the past or future, you can only be free of the ego Now. It is only in the Now that you can be Present and see the ego. So, you can only dissolve the ego in the present moment. Do not let the ego use time against you. In trying to dissolve the ego, the ego can come through the back door using time, making you wonder if you can be free of it tomorrow if you succeed today. All you ever have is Now and if the ego arises, you can only dissolve it Now. As far as the dissolution of ego is concerned, leave tomorrow alone.

When the ego is being dissolved, the ego can project doom. That is an attempt to pull you back into identifying with it. The ego wants to survive at all cost and for it to survive, it needs to pull you in.
Becoming aware of the ego spells death for the ego. You see the ego for what it is and see through most of its gimmicks. Awareness involves an honest observation which will free you from the grip of the ego.
One may want to fight the ego in order to dissolve it. By trying to fight or suppress the ego, you fuel it indirectly. That which wants victory over the ego through a fight is the ego. Ego never solves a problem because ego is the problem.
Because your ego has developed a strong force over the years, dissolving it may not be an easy journey. But it will most likely happen that your ego at a point will hit a threshold of imbalance and will create suffering. The purpose of this suffering is to bring you out of your ego. But when you are in resistance even when you suffer, your ego is strengthened.

In your journey to dissolve your ego, you may go through a period of feeling dysfunctional. This is because you feel that you are in a no man’s land between your Being and your ego. Whereas the ego was always trying to be certain, now what you have is uncertainty which you may fear. You may wish to avoid this journey but when you come through it, your Being will shine through and someone may say you are a “different person.” Of course it is still you only that the ego that was pretending to be you is no longer there. Your Being comes to the forefront. At a point when the ego comes, it will feel suffocating. This will help you let go of the ego more easily.

What is required to dissolve the ego now? Notice the ego within yourself. Identify the ego in action. Ego is coming from your thought so drop the thought and bring your attention back to the present moment. You may find this challenging at first but it affords you the opportunity to see how much of your life has been influenced by the ego. It is your thoughts that led you to negative states such as anger, fear, worry, frustration. Notice those thoughts as well as your body’s response to them – emotion.

Are you lost in thought? Simply bring your attention back to the present moment. How? Perceive the smell around you; notice the sight before you; become aware of the physical sensations in and around you; feel the air on your skin.
Take your attention inside your body. Go to your right hand. Can you feel something inside your right hand? Take your attention to your left leg. Can you feel the energy field in it? Do the same for your neck, stomach, and various parts of your body. Now feel the energy field in your body as a whole. Be present. If you can focus on your breath now, you will become present.

Through these processes I have described, you will begin dissolving your addiction to compulsive thinking and ultimately your ego. Bring your attention back to Now and simply watch your thought while no longer being possessed by them. Can you see that you are not your thought? Can you see that you are the awareness that experiences the thought? By being present, you create a space between you and the thought. That is not exactly correct because you are actually the space in which the thought shows up. Being the space that you are, you see the thought but you are no longer identified with it. In that moment, a stillness will arise in you and you will be connected to your Being, your True Self. But is that really true? How can you be connected to your True Self? That is already implying that there are two of you. So, no, when you are still, you are not connected to your True Self, you are being your True Self, you are being who you are. Whereas formerly, ego obscured who you are from coming through, so that in a sense, you were lost. Now you are present, you are still, your Being is as it is, its light shining without being obscured by the ego. This process of disidentifying with the ego and being present takes practice. But as you continue the process, you will be present for longer periods of time and this will impact the quality of your life.

So, in essence, how do you let go of ego? You don’t. Being aware of the ego brings down its momentum and eventually dissolves it. Be still.
Your Being has been neglected for long. Your Being knows what to do in the present moment but it has always been led by the ego and your ego lacks the capacity to lead your Being, This creates what we know as self-conflict. You find yourself in a situation where you experience dissatisfaction. You want something but you are not sure of what you want. You are confused. So you get the job thinking it will permanently satisfy you only to find out it cannot. You get married thinking that is it but you find out the dissatisfaction comes back. Cars, houses, and money – the dissatisfaction is still there. This is the state most people find themselves in: The state of being in need for a need. At the core of that state is one not being in alignment with one’s Being. You have being doing this and that, trying to be fulfilled. Nothing in this world will give you fulfillment – no thing, no person. Fulfillment is a state. It is a state of you being in alignment with the centre of your Being – God.

Some people act with negativity in an attempt to attract a situation they desire. Such people have been so taken up by the ego that they consider it stupidity to be sincere or display integrity. To be manipulative and shrewd are considered worthwhile traits. They consider being authentic to be dangerous because they think that world is filled with people ready to exploit their authenticity. This causes them to be more closed and the ego is fortified in the process. The problem is that a negative ego can only attract more negative egos in your reality. Negativity does not work. Instead of attracting desirable condition, it stops it from arising. If you own a business, you are not likely to want a competent but “relatively” dishonest accountant. Of course, you are either honest or not. Are you being honest yourself?

The present moment is simple. It is as it is. But the noise-making mind, subdued with compulsive thinking cannot stand it, so it runs from it. It submerges itself in the story it creates around a situation.
You have planned a party for some few people and the weather starts changing. Before long, it starts to rain. What is happening right now? It is raining. If you can accept the reality that it is raining now, you do not create any problem. But like many people, your mind resists that it is raining. In this resistance, it creates a story, “This rain has ruined my day. It has finished me. No one will come to my party.” Is that so? Has the rain ruined your day? That rain is needed so that you can continue to thrive on planet Earth. If it does not rain for a long period, you will most likely pray for rain. Now it is raining but instead of you to appreciate the rain, your ego has turned you to God who should dictate when it should rain and when it should not. How much more selfish can you get? You want to make yourself the centre of the world around which the world will revolve. The rain has not finished you. Instead of complaining about it, you have the opportunity to rest in a cool weather. How can that finish you? “No one will come to my party.” Some people may actually show up in spite of the rain but your mind is already doing what it knows how to do – catastrophizing – even though there is no problem in the present moment. But even if no one shows up, you still do not have a problem. You have the opportunity to share what you have prepared with your neighbours or the needy around you. Where there is an opportunity, all your mind sees is problem. What is the situation? It is raining. The situation is not the problem. The problem is the story your mind has created about the situation.

The story of your mind is as a result of its resistance to what is. The mind believes that its resistance, which you experience as negativity or unhappiness in some form, will somehow dissolve the undesired situation. The mind is deluded. The resistance that it creates along with its negativity is what disturbs you, not the situation.
Let go of the story by surrendering to the situation. By surrender, I mean inner acceptance of what is. You accept what is and you do not hold internal reservations. If you have an illness and you say, “I surrender,” just for the sake of saying it, you have not surrendered. Resignation is not surrender. Surrender naturally happens when you relinquish the internal war. Jesus surrendered at the garden of Gethsemane, “Not my will but your will be done.” It may look as if by surrendering you have been defeated but that is not so. One who surrenders, completely accepts what happens now, which is the form the present moment takes, without judgment or mental labeling. Thus he sees the situation as it is and sees clearly what action to take. This action which is in alignment with the present moment is in alignment with life. Thus, he flows with life. There is peace. Surrender, therefore, is perfectly compatible with action and there is strength in it, not weakness. Realize that resistance is futile and accept the present moment. If you do this, the peace that surpasses understanding will emerge in you. This peace did not come from without. It has been in you. Your resistance obscured you from experiencing it.

If you find yourself in a situation you do not want or desire, change the situation. If you cannot change the situation, leave the situation. If you can neither change nor leave the situation, surrender to the situation. Dissolve the internal resistance by being present. Become aware of that which anchors you to the present moment which can be the energy field inside you, sense perceptions, or your breath. Can you feel the aliveness of your body? The sensation from your sense perceptions? Your surrounding? Your heartbeat? Your breath? Be aware that you are sitting. Be aware that you are reading. Now, be aware that you are aware. You are conscious. What is consciousness? Awareness without thought. You are that awareness. You are therefore not just conscious, you are consciousness, the space in which there is no thought. When you realize this, you will see that there is nothing that happens that diminishes you. You have ten million naira in your account, you are who you are. You are finding it difficult to pay your rent, you are still who you are. You work in a multinational company, you are who you are. You do not have a job, who you are is not diminished. Nothing can change who you are. If you are jobless, accept the joblessness in the present moment because it is what is. When you surrender, when you accept without internal resistance, something will emerge from deep within you. In resistance, you are trapped in pain but when you accept what is, you go beyond the situation, you transcend it. The step to be taken in order to improve the situation will emerge from within you. This step may not get you a job immediately but when you carry out the step, the next step will show up, and the next, on and on until you either have a job or start your own business. As you carry out each step, be present in the Now. Let your Presence flow into what you do and what you do will have quality, it will be transformational. Do you want your action to have power? Be present when you carry out the action. The present moment, no matter the from it takes, is a friend, not an enemy. By being present, you are friendly with it. When you are friendly with it, it smiles at you. That smile is necessary to change your situation, the one you consider undesirable.

Wherever you are, be there. Life, through you, will take care of the situation you consider undesirable. So, surrender to what is now. You can practice stillness to help you live in the present moment.
Stillness is what some call meditation. Stillness is about staying present and going deeper in yourself. You are not trying to do, you are simply being. To be still, you can practise with present moment anchors like your breath. You are breathing now. Notice the gaps between the exhaling and inhaling cycles, the air going into your lungs, the movement of your belly, and so on, as much as you can. Because you are placing your awareness on what is happening right now, you propel yourself powerfully into the present moment. This simple exercise has the potential to help you go deeper within yourself, to help you be present.
Other present moment anchors are your sense perceptions and the energy field inside you, what you may call inner body. Feel the aliveness of your body by paying attention to the energy field in your hands, legs, neck, chest, and so on. You do not necessarily have to be still to be aware of present moment anchors. You can be aware of them while walking or doing chores. This will help you stay grounded in the present moment even when you are doing something. Ego gives way and you experience peace. At first, you may only be able to stay present for a short period of time but with practise, you will get to stay present longer. You realize when you are present that you are not your thoughts and you become the watcher of your thoughts, not the judge, just the watcher. You neither grasp your thoughts nor push them away.
Being friendly with the Now, being present, has been shown to reduce stress, lower blood pressure, reduce chronic pain, boosts immune functioning – being present has benefits for your health. People who stay present display more joy and are more secure. Instead of reacting to perceived threats in a situation, and afterwards drown under the situation in anxiety, conscious people accept a situation, transcend it, and act to improve or change the situation. As a result, conscious people have more satisfying relationships with events and people. They are less aggressive and are more connected to other people.

Could you be present now? As you read this book, be aware that you are breathing. If you are aware that you are breathing now, you are present in this moment. Being present or still is not about getting somewhere. You are already there. It is therefore about being fully where you are already. Where else can you live but Now? Life offers us so many wonderful things we can enjoy but because we are often lost in thoughts – thoughts of the past or future – we fail to experience, let alone enjoy what is happening now. You may love the sight of nature. Look at the plants or trees, you feel this sense of calm. Before you know it, you have left the present moment. “Oh, I really wish I could come back here someday,” you say. You are where you love to be but because you are not present, you are back in your thought, wishing to come back some other day to where you presently are. This is how we often let the present moment escape from us and we hardly experience joy. You escape from the present moment and what do you find? Pain or worry. In that state, you end up having a toxic relationship with what is as well as with people.

The disaster is still remembered today for its sheer destruction – the Indian Ocean tsunami. On December 26, 2004, an undersea earthquake struck off the coast of the Indonesian Island of Sumatra. Over the next several hours, a tsunami – a large ocean wave – triggered by the earthquake reached out across the Indian Ocean, devastating coastal areas as far away as East Africa. The destruction saw fourteen countries affected. Thailand, Sri Lanka, India, and Indonesia were badly affected in terms of human losses and physical damage. About 230,000 people were killed as a result of the tsunami. However, few animals were reported to have been killed.

Before giant waves slammed into Sri Lanka and India coastlines, wild domestic animals seemed to know what was about to happen and fled to safety. According to some eye witness accounts, elephants screamed and ran for higher grounds, flamingos abandoned their low-lying breeding areas, dogs refused to go outdoors. It was as if the animals knew that something was about to happen. They followed their instinct.

There are things animals simply know how to do without learning about it. When a bird builds a nest, it knows how to build it without having to learn from another bird. It knows the material to choose and the manner in which the nest is weaved to get the end shape. Those instructions are already there in the bird. There is often a bit of refinement with a more mature bird which will build a better nest but all the basics to build a nest are there in the bird the very first time a bird builds a nest.

What is an instinct? It is the ability of an animal to perform a behaviour the first time it is exposed to the proper stimulus. Every time a dog is exposed to food, it will drool including the first time. Babies have instincts. Place a nipple into a baby’s mouth and the baby will suck. The baby needs no instruction from anybody to suck for the first time. The instruction is already there in the baby. Imagine that a baby cannot suck. The baby then cannot feed and its survival is at risk. So the baby arrived in this world with the instruction that will help her survive.

Nobody teaches plants how to grow. One day I noticed that a pawpaw tree was growing behind the house. I am quite sure nobody intentionally planted the seed. Perhaps someone just left the seed there and before long, there was a plant. As I write, the tree keeps growing, and nobody even cares about in terms of seeing that it grows and yields fruit. Yet the tree grows and not long from now, there will be pawpaw for consumption. The tree has its own guidance that has enabled it to thrive till this very day. Humans have their own guidance system that enables them to thrive. The issue is whether they are in tune with that guidance system or not. That “guidance system” is what we may call intuition.

You may not know exactly where and how you get some input and ideas but you know you get them and they are not the products of reasoning. You may hear people refer to intuition as gut feeling, sixth sense, instinct, inner voice, or spiritual guide. Some use intuition in decision making and this is far more than using common sense because there is an awareness from within. Often people who are familiar with intuitive experiences find it hard to describe. There is this direct knowing or an inner knowing without thinking it through. In other words, intuition is a way you get information without using known logical or rational processes. You may experience it as a gentle push you feel to take a certain path.
Intuition is not something new. Albert Einstein who is widely considered one of the greatest physicists of all time said, “There only real valuable thing is intuition.” He also said, “There is no logical way to discovery of these elemental laws. There is only the way of intuition, which is helped by a feeling for the order lying behind the appearance.”

John Naisbitt, a former executive with IBM and Eastman Kodak said, “Intuition becomes increasingly valuable in the new information society precisely because there is so much data.”
Alexis Carrel, a French surgeon and biologist said, “All great men are gifted with intuition. They know without reasoning or analysis, what they need to know.”

A female friend of mine, has consistently displayed that she is in touch with Being. On several occasions, in the course of a conversation, I came to see that she knows intuitively what I came to know after much reading. Her intuition is guiding her when it comes to health as well as in other areas. What many people do not choose to do she has chosen to do and enjoys doing it. One of the results is that her family enjoys good health.
Intuition is your inner guide; it is that inner voice you may want to listen to. Somehow it knows what you want and it is asking for your trust. All your life you have been thinking, rationalizing, analyzing until it became paralyzing. Why not try a new way of life? A new way that is devoid of compulsive energy; a new way that has your growth, your expansion, your conscious evolution at heart.

You want wonderful things in your life but you do not see the wonderful things or enough of them. You may not be in alignment with your Being and as such you may not be listening to it. The Source communicates with your Being and your Being is your essence. Listening to your Being and taking the steps it asks you to take even though the destination is not clear puts you in a situation to attract the wonderful things you desire. But many people are not tapping into their intuition or they are not listening to it even though it speaks.

When you are dominated by the mind, all you may likely see are reasons to be unhappy, reasons to be anxious. Your mind goes, “I am just tired of this world. It seems as if it is a place custom designed to make everybody anxious. See how polluted the environment is. Natural disasters seem not to be ending. Even though there are people everywhere people feel lonely as if there is a loneliness epidemic. While a lot of people are presently looking for jobs, there will be fewer jobs in the future because robots will steal so many jobs from people. Robots may even be fighting wars in the future. And the political space is like the climax of the insanity. There are regular threats of nuclear annihilation. Why am I even here? There is no sense in all of this.” It therefore does not come as a surprise when mental health practitioners claim that anxiety is on the rise.

I trade it right into a high-quality one?” No. The ego can fake to be superb however handiest for a while. Anyone who is present can see via its pretense. The ego is constantly acting from a nation of fear so it cannot be clearly wonderful. To be free from the ego, dissolve the ego. Dissolve the ego and your Being will take the front seat that is because of it. This method will take some time. You have lived beneath the manager of the ego for decades. Dissolving such that its manage tends to zero will not be instant. Inside you'll be a war, mind versus Being. As your Being tries to come back ahead, your ego feeling threatened will fight and it's going to fight difficult. You are likely to enjoy “withdrawal signs.” However, the more Present you're, the extra dissolution there might be. Academic Writing Services UK

When your mind serves your Being, the mind is the servant it was meant to be. It then gives form to what the formless communicates. But when your mind dictates to your Being and becomes your master, peace eludes you. Your mind becomes such a noise maker that you cannot just hear your Being communicating to you through intuition. So, no one’s intuition is dead. One simply does not hear the voice because one is identified with the mind. In other cases, one hears the voice but does not follow the guidance offered because the mind is always trying to rationalize and intuition cannot be rationalized. The intelligence of your Being is far greater than the cleverness of your mind.

When your intuition is liberated, intimacy with the Now is developed and you gain trust. Rather than living your life always reacting to what happens, you become one with the situation and respond accordingly. Your response may not be what your mind wants. Sonia Choquette said, “Intuition doesn’t tell you what you want to hear; it tells you what you need to hear.” Intuition leads you towards a path, often an uncertain path but that path will make you feel comfortable.

There is so much information in the world today, and even with the information, disinformation is going on. People are telling you what to do and how to do it, what to think and how to think it. Media campaigns are ongoing and you have so many people’s opinions. As you try to analyze all of them, you suffer analysis paralysis. So here you are, wanting to take action but after going through so much content that seem to clash with each other, you take no action because you are confused. If you are aware of who you are, your intuition will become louder such that it overpowers the other voices in the world. Other people’s ideas and opinions in the form of books, audios, or whatever form, should serve you not lead you. Let your intuition lead you.

Do you want your intuition to lead you? Then be open to your intuition. Be open to listening, not for words but for energy. Feel it. When your intuition speaks, it feels true to you. All we ever have is Now and Life is always creating in the Now. In terms of work, we are not here to regurgitate what everyone is doing; we are here to create something new. What will lead you to create something new? The Source speaking through your intuition.
When your intuition speaks, your mind may try to analyze, justify, or figure it out. Your mind which has been conditioned by your past, has a hard time doing so and when it realizes it is unable do so, it feels uncomfortable, it feels uncertain, it feels insecure. It speaks to you thus: “Are you alright? What are you doing? You must be out of your mind.” So your mind prevents you from being open, from listening. Your mind wants to be certain in order to feel secure but this uncertainty arising from your intuition threatens it. All you need is to trust your inner voice, your guidance system.

“How do I know if this is the path I should follow?” you ask. Well, you don’t, at least not with your mind. Your mind can only comprehend so much. You are moving outside the scope of your mind. You are going beyond the intellect. You feel, you feel the energy, and what you feel is real. Following your intuition requires courage. Exercise courage. The word “courage” comes from the Latin word cor which means “heart.” You may have heard someone say, “Follow your heart.”
Re: Conscious Evolution Path by Growing(m): 5:34pm On May 20, 2019
Ego separates through thought; Being connects through intuition. When you show up and follow the path that your intuition is telling you, your action expands you. You create something new and people benefit from your creation. Your work then speaks to other people, telling them to be Present.

In listening to your intuition, you do not need to prove anything, either to yourself or to others. Some people hear the Inner Voice and then try to get others to understand why they will be taking the action they intend. You do not need someone else’s permission to follow your intuition. What you feel is inside you. You feel it and you know it is real. They don’t feel it. So in following your intuition, you do not need to make them understand.

You may feel your intuition but not every feeling is an intuition. “Trust your feelings,” you may hear someone say. But where is that feeling arising from? This important question tells you whether to trust that feeling or not. As long as you have a feeling, acknowledge the feeling. However, that feeling may not be the truth so you do not have to take every feeling to be the truth. Your mind has been conditioned by your experience, your past, so it is easy for your mind to misinterpret a situation because it looks at a situation with the eyes of the past. Fear then may arise and you may regard this fear as your intuition speaking whereas it is not. Your conditioned mind has interpreted a situation, your body is reflecting your mind’s interpretation and you have fear. This feeling, this fear arises from your mind.

But there is a different kind of feeling that originates from somewhere deeper in you. It does not come out of the conditioning of your mind but from Presence. Intuition is not tainted by negativity such as fear, anger, or anxiety. It is not a nervous energy, and the feeling comes with peace. There is no rationalization, so you may not be able to explain it to yourself or others but you know it is right – it is right for you.

Intuition is the intelligence of your Being which is beyond the rational mind. It is holistic and does not separate. What will help you follow your intuition is trust. You have to trust you. That will be hard for you to do as long as you still have fear in you. Your mind identified state has produced fear. Fear and trust however cannot go together. Trust is simply the absence of fear. Trusting yourself goes beyond making the affirmation, “I trust myself.” Affirmation may help at first but an affirmation is no more than a signpost pointing to you the reality. When you arrive at the reality of trusting yourself, you do not need the signpost any more. Imagine Aliko Dangote looking at his bathroom mirror saying, “I am a billionaire.” He does not need to do that because that is his reality so he needs no signpost to point him to that. Affirmations may be used at the transitional stage but when you arrive at the reality, they become unnecessary.

If you value good health, this is for you

Prior to 2017, I repeatedly suffered malaria every other month, suffered from typhoid a couple of times a year, and suffered migraine occasionally. Hence I regularly took drugs for each of these illnesses when they came. In 2017 I listened to two great doctors speak over the radio. One is a renowned Indian doctor, the other is an American-trained, Nigerian-based doctor. Their discussion opened a path for me in wellness, a path that is in conflict with the status quo when it comes to healthcare. I delved into research and as I researched, I made changes in my lifestyle for the sake of my health.

The result? Since September 2017, I have taken malaria and typhoid medicine once and I have never taken drugs for migraine. This is no accident. I acquired knowledge and took actions that caused this change. I am healthier and feel better than I did prior to 2017. But around me things are happening.

A number of former church members died as a result of chronic diseases like kidney disease. Over the radio and on television, people are asking for financial help due to cancer and heart disease. I started realizing that the information I have is very valuable. The current healthcare is built on drugs and surgery. What should have been the last resort is what we are often presented immediately we report an illness. Think about this: some people will lose profit if the majority of the people are healthy. They therefore have little or no incentive to promote your wellness. The height of it for me was when two weeks ago, a nineteen-year old girl called to tell me she was diagnosed of breast cancer. It dawned on me that the information I have should be shared.

Among others I have information about:

• Comprehensive studies that scientifically shows how something within your control promotes good health.

Trust is your natural state. You may find it hard to believe that statement because for so long, you have lived in fear. Trust arises naturally out of the state of Presence. When you stay present and keep following the guidance of your intuition, life can get interesting. Formerly, life has been one heavy, boring experience. With your intuition, life gets to be a playful experience in some way as you keep evolving following your calling. Things fell apart, now things begin to align.

Some people use their intuition to make conscious choices. In parenting your child, in healing your body of illness, in finding the work you love, in bringing about wealth, in having a loving, conscious relationship, intuition does help. You just may need to get out of your own way.

I read this story on Care2 Healthy Living:
My first experience with intuitive knowing helped me to save one of my patients’ lives. It was during training, and I was having difficulty accessing the radial artery of a patient in shock. He was clamped down and I could not thread the guide wire. After many futile attempts, I felt so frustrated, knowing that this critical step was necessary to get good data to save my patient’s life. I don’t know what came over me, but I suddenly stepped back from his bed and closed my eyes. A sense of peace came over me. I heard myself in my mind ask for guidance, for help. I don’t know who I was asking, but I felt as though there was a response, a voice that said “Go ahead.“ I thanked the voice and felt energized and reassured. I opened my eyes and stepped up to the patient. Without doubt, hesitation or difficulty, I was able to access the patient’s radial artery immediately. This helped me to turn the patient around at a crucial time. He eventually walked out of the hospital. It felt as though my hands were guided into the right place by an external force, and this phenomenon gave me a sense of amazement and awe. This was the first time I really felt connected to another level, a benevolent force. Since then, I’ve felt this guidance many, many times when helping to provide solutions to my patients. I firmly believe we have access to a whole other level in order to help each other, and I believe that our Universe is indeed a friendly place that we create on an ongoing basis.

- Sean Orr, MD1

This is a story of Trisha Coburn as told to Lisa Kogan:
I was 46 years old, I had three terrific kids, a happy marriage, and a painting studio where I spent hours every day. Not only was nothing wrong in my life, plenty was incredibly right. But then I had the dream.
I was standing at a barbed-wire fence across from five or six terribly frail people with huge dark eyes and ghostly pale skin. They were trying to tell me something in a language I didn't understand. It was intense and disturbing, and it left me rattled.
A week later I had the dream again, only this time there were a dozen people trying to get me to grasp what they were saying.
The following week the dream returned, but now there were 20 people, and they looked desperate. I woke up crying. I started feeling afraid to go to sleep.
Even though my husband thought I was overreacting, I called my doctor to schedule a physical. I didn't know what else to do. The receptionist pointed out that I'd just had a physical six months earlier; the most I could talk her into was some new blood work. At the appointment, I told the doctor I felt that something wasn't right. He smiled. "You eat well, you exercise, you're healthy. Quit worrying." Two days later, his nurse called to say my blood work was fine. I relaxed and figured I could put my fears behind me.
A week later, the dream was back. There must have been 100 people—wailing, screaming, pleading with me. I kept saying, "I don't know what you want from me! Please, please tell me what I'm supposed to do."
A few days later, the fifth and final dream: Back at the fence, only this time nobody is there. I fall to my knees, sobbing, "Come back. I need you to help me." And suddenly I hear one voice. And that voice says two words—in perfect English: "Look deeper."
I called my doctor the minute his office opened. "What's the deepest place in the human body?" He said, "I suppose it's the colon." And I said, "Then I want a colonoscopy." He explained that I had no family history of colon cancer, no symptoms, that insurance would never cover it. I persisted.
I told the gastroenterologist I wanted to be awake for the procedure. I watched the camera twisting and turning and following the curves through my colon, and then I heard the doctor draw a breath and say, "Oh my." There, on the screen, was a black mass. And the doctor promptly put me to sleep.
It was cancer—aggressive and fast moving. She later told me that if I'd waited even two months, my prognosis would have been...grim.

Re: Conscious Evolution Path by Growing(m): 7:35am On Jun 03, 2019
I was close to three decades old on planet Earth when I first asked the question, “Who am I?” I gave myself different kinds of answers at different times of my life that were ultimately unsatisfactory because they were not true. But I felt I should know who I am. So I identified with my own answer. I thought I knew who I am then. As time went on it became increasingly clear to me, “I do not know who I am.”

If your answer to “Who I am?” is “I am Chukwuma,” or “I am Bukola,” then you have identified with your name. Are you really your name? I am a mother, a wife, a doctor, a patient. You are a mother because you have a child. You are a wife because you have a husband. You are a doctor because you have gone through medical school, a patient because you are being treated in a hospital. Everything you have identified with and believe yourself to be depends on something else. Is who you are a doctor?

You do not know the answer to the question, “Who am I?” because you do not know who you are, hence, you have created various identities for yourself. These identities you created for yourself did not bring you closer to yourself but took you farther away from yourself. You are not what you think. If you think who you are is your profession, what happens when you no longer practise your profession? You lose your identity. Then the sense of not knowing who you are begins to dawn on you. When you drop who you think you are, what is left? Who you are. So, when you do not know who you are, you are closer to who you are.

Your mind created your ego, that which you think you are. Your ego has identified with little things – property, profession, money, and so on. They are little things because ultimately, they are impermanent. Through loss or suffering, your ego tends to be diminished and so you have the opportunity to come to the realization that you are not your ego. Before that realization, you become aware of the ego, who you are not. By being aware of who you are not, the impediment to knowing you are is removed. To come to the realization of who you are, do not look for yourself externally. Do not go outside, go within.

Without speaking out, say “I am.” Say it within you. Don’t just continue reading, say, “I am,” within you. You heard the words right? You did not move your lips yet you heard the words, “I am.” Who said that? You did. How could you have spoken without using your mouth? Because you are not your body although your body “houses” you. So let us go within this body.
Re: Conscious Evolution Path by Growing(m): 7:56am On Jun 10, 2019
Be silent. Be still. Now, take your attention inside your body. Take your attention to your right hand. Do you feel something? Although it is not necessary to close your eyes to feel, close your eyes if you want to. Take your attention to your left leg. Do you feel something? If your mind is not serving as an obstacle, you will be present and feel that energy field within your left leg.

Now, without focusing on any particular part of your body, can you feel the energy field of your entire body? What you feel is real.

If you touch a hot stove, you experience heat. Who experienced the heat? You did. You are the experiencer without which the experience of heat would not be possible.

So, who are you? You are consciousness. What is consciousness? That question cannot be answered because consciousness cannot be intellectualized. The moment you answer it, you have made consciousness into an object thereby falsifying it.

Without consciousness nothing can be thought, perceived, or felt. Indeed without consciousness, nothing can be experienced. You can explain forms but who you are is formless and unexplainable. Without the formless, there would be no forms. Consciousness is formless. Although you cannot rationalize consciousness, you can become conscious of it. Having been identified with your mind for so long, you were hardly conscious of consciousness. You have been unconscious. You can become conscious of consciousness by sensing it now as your very Presence. What is called consciousness here is what you know as “spirit.”

You are out of school and like most graduates, you start looking for a job. After several months, you find a job. You are happy to have a job and you resume at your place of work. In less than six months, you begin asking yourself if you would like to continue on this job. “Is this how I am going to spend my life working on this job?” Few months ago when you got the job, you were happy. Now, the same job makes you unhappy. You start looking for another job, another job that will fulfill you, that will help you achieve your life purpose. So, you decide to be clear, “What kind of job do I want?” You want a job under Human Resources. You want to work in an air-conditioned office with good furnishing and after years or decades of work, retire with pension. You get the job, “This is the job that fulfills me.”
Months later some level of dissatisfaction sets in. You know that a lot of people will be happy to have the job you currently have but you are no longer happy on the job. Fridays are always anticipated and by Sunday evening, a dark cloud about getting back to work the next day hovers above you. You decide that you would no longer want to answer “Yes sir” to somebody else as an employee. You resolve to start your own business and be your own boss. You start your business and after some time, you resign from your place of work to focus on your business. “My purpose is to establish my own business serving people,” so you think. Behind that thought is the desire to make money, so much money. You are unconscious of the belief in your head, “I will be happy when I am rich. Money will fulfill me.” After years of stress, hard work, and negativity, you make much money and consider yourself rich. Time passes and you start asking, “Is this all there is to life?” You are not as happy, not as fulfilled as you thought you would be when you become rich. Some void inside you tells you that you are not living your purpose. “What is my purpose?” you ask. The problem is this: You have been seeking your purpose only in doing.

We refer to a person as a “human being.” Those two words speak truth. The “human” represents the form – the name, clothes, house, car, job, thoughts – of the person. The “being” is the formless without which there would be no form, no “human.” In trying to find your purpose, you have completely abandoned “being” and focused on “human.” As long as you continue searching in that state, you will hardly find or fulfill your purpose. You are not a human doing.

Let me put it in another way. You are to be and to do. But before you do, you will have to be. Most people however are so focused on doing that they neglect being. They do, and do, and keep doing, searching for their purpose in doing. Your purpose, your primary purpose precisely, concerns being and not doing. “What is my purpose?” you ask.

There are two levels to your purpose – inner and outer. You therefore have an inner purpose and an outer purpose. Inner purpose concerns being and has to do with your Being. Inner purpose is primary. Outer purpose concerns doing and it is secondary.
Your inner purpose is to be conscious of Consciousness. In other words, your inner purpose is to awake. This is the purpose of every human being. Something is happening in the universe which the human mind cannot comprehend. Our awakening is necessary in this evolutionary stage of the universe. Your inner purpose concerns the whole, the totality of all that is.
Your outer purpose is not constant, it changes over time. From person to person, outer purpose varies. When you live in alignment with your inner purpose, you have laid the basis for your outer purpose. Through shrewdness, motivation, hard work, or struggle, you can do and achieve certain things. But there will be no experience of joy in such striving. It all ends up in some form of pain.
What is your outer purpose when you are travelling? To travel. When you get to your destination, your outer purpose is to be there. When you meet someone there, you outer purpose is to meet that person. When you are cooking, your outer purpose is to cook. When you are speaking, your outer purpose is to speak. What is your outer purpose now? To read this post.

When your inner purpose aligns with your outer purpose, amazing things happen. The Source or God does things through you. You become God’s instrument to achieve God’s plan. Consciousness flows into what you do. Two people can do the same thing and achieve different results. Actions are not primary. What is primary is the state of consciousness the actions are carried out.
When your inner purpose is in alignment with your outer purpose, the Source or God does things through you. You become God’s instrument to achieve God’s design.

How do we connect to the formless dimension? By being still. “Be still and confess that I am God” (Psalm 46:11). What does it mean to be still? To be conscious without thought. When you are still, you are deeply yourself. Then you open yourself up for the Source to communicate with and act through you. In stillness, you become one with all.
“We need to find God, and He cannot be found in noise and restlessness. God is the friend of silence. See how nature – trees, flowers, grass – grows in silence; see the stars, the moon and the sun, how they move in silence…We need silence to be able to touch souls,” said Mother Teresa.

When you are concerned about a situation or what you usually call a problem - physical, emotional, or otherwise - you may not want to be still. You want to resolve the situation and so you want an answer fast, you want it right now. You become desperate. You cannot afford to be still. Stillness will not yield any result. So you think. Very few situations require an immediate action. When an action is required, it is of course proper to act. But for most situations, withdrawal from the situation is necessary. There is the situation and here is your interpretation of the situation which is often different from the situation. In fact, the problem is usually not the situation but your interpretation of the situation. You need to take a step back, you need to withdraw. Stillness can help you do that.

What people often want is an answer that will give them their desired outcome. They want an answer that will relieve them of the discomfort they feel. They consider the outcome more important than the truth until they sense that the truth is more important than the outcome.

When you practice stillness, trust is developed. You develop trust in your true nature and a deep trust in God. Then you can say with St. Paul, “…All things work for good for those who love God…” (Romans 8:28). Do you have a terrible life situation? Be still. “The language of God is silence; words are poor translation,” said Deepak Chopra.

Imagine that a surgeon is operating a patient. In the middle of the operation, the patient comes awake on the operating table and starts shouting, “Oh my God! I am undergoing an operation. What should I do?” This is a time the patient should do nothing and allow the surgeon to operate.
We are so used to doing something that even when the time comes for us to do nothing, we still want to do something. It is as if we are scared of doing nothing, scared of being still. Sometimes we should simply be and not do. Sometimes what is required is for you to be still.
Re: Conscious Evolution Path by Growing(m): 8:33am On Jul 09, 2019
A good number of people are so used to doing that they are not able to just sit and be still. It seems as if they are afraid of silence. Maybe you have noticed that your mind becomes hyperactive when you try to be still. You do not like what shows up and so you completely avoid being still. Perhaps when you are alone and the room is silent, you feel some form of pain showing up. You want to feel good and not feel the pain so you do something that will make the pain go away. But does the pain really go away?

If you become still and you notice your mind coming up with different kinds of thought, or some form of pain showing up, that is an opportunity for you to disidentify from your mind. If you could remain still regardless of the discomfort you may feel initially, you will get to create a space, a space for the thought or pain to simply be as it is. Actually, you will not be creating space because you are the space; you are the space in which the thought shows up. Usually, when thought shows up, you do something to make the thought go away. You go watch a movie, get on social media, go out, or do some other thing. But the thought has not really gone away. You have succeeded in obstructing yourself from the thought. So the thought is still there, lingering somewhere in you. What should you do? You should be still. Allow the thought to be. Do not think; do not try to understand the thought; do not try to know where the thought is coming from; do not judge the thought; do not want to do anything to the thought. Just allow the thought to be. As you remain still you will get to see that you are not your thought. There is the thought and here I am, I am therefore not my thought. This is disidentification from the thought; it is disidentification from your mind. You feel the space surrounding the thought. Continue to allow the thought to be and that space will dissolve the thought, so to speak. This may not happen in a day. It happens over time as you continue your practice of stillness. Whereas the thought has been so powerful that it dominated your mind, it will begin to lose its momentum. When you are still, you are present and the thought is no match for your Presence. The thought will eventually be dissolved. By this I mean that the thought will be transmuted into consciousness.

I have used thought to show how you can be free from the thought in your head. The same process applies for pain. Thought arises in the mind and pain is your body’s reaction to the thought. So ultimately what is happening is a disidentification from your mind. Let us go deeper into this.
Re: Conscious Evolution Path by Growing(m): 8:59pm On Jul 14, 2019
Your mind has been in charge. It has been your leader for most part of your life and now its leadership position is threatened. The mind therefore engages in a battle and in this battle, it fights as if it is fighting for survival. In the process of stepping out of your mind and aligning with your Being, you may feel lost as if you are in a no-man’s land. Some people move back into the mind at this stage without realizing that they are one step away from enlightenment.

As you journey from your mind to your Being and your mind fights fiercely, you may experience what may be called withdrawal symptoms. Do not run to your addictions – food, alcohol, social media, sex – to numb your feeling then. Doing so may stop the fight but it delays your enlightenment. The addictive object you run to does not end the fight. It only postpones it to another day and the fight may be more intense the next time. Your strength is displayed when you go through this stage without your addictions. The strength of your Being will lead you to enlightenment and a by-product is withdrawal from your addictions so that you are no longer an addict. In this way, stillness can help you overcome your addictions. You were never lost; you were only obscured from being aware of who you are.

We live in a noisy world. Why is there noise? Because people are addicted to stimulations. They are scared of stillness and so must always have noise as a companion. External world is a reflection of one’s internal state, so their external environment correlates to their internal turbulence. The turbulence within is stressful and causes pain. Pain puts them out of ease and they suffer disease. If you are still seeking stimulation, then stillness will be difficult for you and the way you live your life will keep taking you away from yourself. Here is the “normal” life of people: Being too busy, constant distractions, stress, noise, stimulating food and drinks, emotions, anxiety. The consequence is mental and emotional exhaustion.

Do you want peace? Be still.

Stillness may be difficult for you at first because the hyperactive mind brings up all kinds of thoughts. In that case, you may start by focusing on your breath. Let that bring you into the present moment. As you continue the practice, you find out that you are not bombarded by thoughts as you were when you started. The gap between thoughts increases. You may start practising stillness for 15 minutes a day. If you really think that you do not have 15 minutes to spare in a whole day, then you may need an hour for stillness.
You do not have to believe that stillness will be of benefit to you. Practise it and have the experience.

A seed germinates and grows to become a tree. In time, the tree yields fruit. The leaves of the tree take in carbon dioxide and releases oxygen. Human beings breathe in this oxygen and breathe out carbon dioxide which the leaves of the tree take in. There is a design. Intelligence is at work.

The earth is presently rotating. That rotation gives us day and night. It is also revolving around the sun which gives us seasons. There is a gravitational force of the earth that scientists have not been able to explain. When you jump, the force pulls you down back to earth. So you are unable to float around aimlessly on earth or into space. The earth has intelligence guiding it.

As you read this your heart is pumping your blood. Your body may presently be digesting the food you ate earlier. We can say that the food is being digested but we cannot say that you are digesting the food. We cannot say that because you are not actively responsible for the digestion of your food. What is it exactly do you do so that your food digests? Nothing. Your body handles the digestion just like it handles the circulation of blood around your body. Your body has intelligence guiding it. With that intelligence, it fights microorganisms that come in to cause disease. Your body has “soldiers” fighting for you and they fight till death.

With all these and many more happening, you still find yourself thinking sometimes that your life does not make sense. You are having an issue with a family member, you are struggling to pay your rent, you are having an illness, you lost your child, your partner left you. Yes, all of these are challenging but that intelligence that guides the seed to grow into a tree, that makes the earth act for our benefit, that makes your body thrive, that intelligence has not left you on your own. That intelligence is at work in your life even though you may not see it. You may not see it because you think too much and your mind which has created a story about you has been conditioned by your past. You end up believing the story of your mind. This has cost you happiness. No matter the story your head tells you, it cannot be absolutely true. In your thought, you have cut up the whole into tiny fragments and through thinking, these fragments end up becoming lifeless. Your thought involves your perspective which can only be relatively true. Your perspective does not consider the whole. The absolute truth has to do with the whole and your mind does not have the capacity to process the whole.

You do not have to believe that your life is meaningless; you do not have to believe that your situation will never improve; you do not have to believe that God has left you on your own; you do not have to believe your story. Intelligence is at work in your life. The seed does not struggle but allows the intelligence to work; the earth does not struggle but allows the intelligence to work; your body does not struggle but allows the intelligence to work. Why are you struggling? You are struggling because you do not trust the intelligence. If you do, you would say with St. Paul, “…All things work for good for those who love God…” (Romans 8:28).

When we talk about enlightenment, it is important you do not get attached to the words but go beyond the words to realize what is being talked about. In this sense, words are pointers. The signpost that says “Ajegunle” is not Ajegunle but it points you to Ajegunle. Words can point you to enlightenment but if you are attached to words, you may fail to realize it. You are the primary subject for spiritual enlightenment which is your true nature.

Your mind will find it difficult to grasp enlightenment. Comprehension comes from the mind and the mind best grasps what can be categorized or objectified. Our minds like to think in terms of object and this is not restricted to physical objects. The mind objectifies speed, distance, condition, time, even though those are not objects. Whatever we perceive, physically or mentally, is the object of perception. When we think of something that is not an actual object, we still use objectification as a mental reference which can be an image or a representation. The mind is framed upon object relations. Time is not an object but when we consider the past for instance, we think of it as a “place” where things happened. So we use an objectified framework for thinking and this is the foundation of our entire perceived world. Spiritual enlightenment or direct consciousness is outside this framework. It therefore cannot be understood but it can be realized. This is why many communications about spiritual enlightenment seem vague, enigmatic, confusing, or mysterious although it may be because the speaker does not really know what he is talking about. One teacher who really knows what he talks about is Eckhart Tolle and this is what he says about enlightenment:

The word enlightenment conjures up the idea of some superhuman accomplishment, and the ego likes to keep it that way, but it is simply your natural state of felt oneness with Being. It is a state of connectedness with something immeasurable and indestructible, something that, almost paradoxically, is essentially you and yet is much greater than you. It is finding your true nature beyond name and form. The inability to feel this connectedness gives rise to the illusion of separation, from yourself and from the world around you. You then perceive yourself, consciously or unconsciously, as an isolated fragment. Fear arises, and conflict within and without becomes the norm.
1

Following enlightenment is the awareness that you are no-thing. It may seem that what you previously sensed as “you” has been destroyed but that “you” is your ego. Enlightenment does not destroy you; it frees you from the limitation of what you are not. You are not your ego.

Be silent. Be still. I want you to be conscious that you are reading these words. Now, I want you to be conscious of that consciousness. You are that consciousness. That consciousness is prior to any idea, image, thought, or belief. It is actually the space in which thoughts show up and then leave. If you really consider the last sentence, you have the opportunity to be free from your identification with your thought, hence, dissolving much of the pain you currently carry. If you desire to transform your life, becoming conscious of who you are is invaluable.

Level 1: You know you are not being real, you are not being authentic, you are not being you. You know there is a gap between who you are and who you are trying to be. It is hard keeping up with trying to be who you are not. Sometimes you try to be authentic. Your attempt at being true to your being comes with a gap created between you and some things as well as you and some people. It is the gap with the people you find harder to deal with.

Level 2: It increasingly becomes clear that being authentic means things and people will have to leave you. It is not as if you are trying to push those things and people away from you. It is just that since they do not align with the real you, there is no corresponding vibrational frequency to keep them in your life.

Level 3: You are trying to be true to your being and you realize that you no longer want to go to some places you have been going. You no longer desire some associations. You simply want to be and not just keep repeating the same pattern in doing. A new way of life is calling but there are anchors in some things and people that are dragging you to where you have been, that place where your evolution has been hindered.
But there are some things you have experienced even when you attempted to be real. The number one among those things is that you experienced more silence within; there was less internal turmoil. In fact, you experienced more peace. You wish to keep going without looking back but along come those things and people that drag you back to that old familiar place.

Level 4: You attempt to do something. You attempt to carry those people along the path you want to follow. You want to be a good friend, a good buddy to them. You can see that they deserve better and you want to almost drag them along the route that will cause them to shift and make them experience life on a whole new level. You are trying to be good to them but things seem to be going from bad to worse between you and these people. They see that a change is happening with you but they do not get it. The intensity of the friction between you and them seem to be on the rise.
They are so used to their way of living that they consider themselves at home where they are. However, you see that where they call home is characterized by chaos and that the new path offers freedom from chaos. Your understanding of this path is experiential not mental.
What is the problem? The problem is that they have identified with that chaos, that disorder, that craziness, they call home. There is no separation between them and their home. They are one with their home and you are trying to pull them out of it. They resist you. You are trying to take their whole sense of identity away from them. If they lose home who will they be? They do not want to experience the unfamiliar because it will shatter all that they think they are. Their home is chaos but at least the chaos is familiar. They prefer a familiar chaos to an unfamiliar uncertainty. They do not just resist you, they fight you and this is creating distance between you and them.

Level 5: You come to a realization: You are not responsible for their transformation. You want it for them but you do not want the added pressure of that responsibility. The primary person you should be true to is you. You decide to walk the path alone without the approval you have been seeking from them, an approval not coming forth. Things turn upside down.

Level 6: You know you love them but they think you despise them. Why? Because you do not call them. You know that if you have to call them you will. You do not desire a call that is all about shallow “Hi” and “How far?” Shallow is no longer your home, not even in conversations. Now see the hypocrisy: They say you do not call them but do they call you? No. They do not call you because behind you they say things that unmask their anger and growing hatred for you. You do not judge them for not calling you but they judge you for not calling them. And when you decide to call them you hear, “So you remember to call me today,” and some other subtle negative remarks. You do not call them, they despise you; you call them, they despise you. You now fully realize that their problem is not you. Their problem is within them. They are not aware of this.

Level 7: You make the necessary decision: “I will honour my being by following this path and being authentic no matter what.” You add, “The things and people that leave my life because I follow this path have to leave because they do not align with me.” You follow your heart and things and people leave you. Things turn downside up.

Level 8: Things and people left you. Now things and people that align with you start showing up in your life. A “chance” encounter brings you something you need; your “work” connects you with people that bring value. Life is new, life is fresh, life is adventurous. Not that there are no challenges but that mental pattern that converts challenges to problems has greatly been dissolved. You now know that it is through challenges that you grow and evolve. Having awaken, you are consciously evolving.

Level 9: Years later some of the people whom you were trying to drag along the path in the beginning but who drifted away show up in your life. Then when you were trying to drag them, they were at a point in life where they could neither see nor appreciate what you were trying to do. Now they see it. Life happened to them until they said, “I am tired of this madness.” And they asked, “Who can help me out of this disorder?” They remember you. They reconnect with you at a deeper level. Your life and theirs undergo a “chemical reaction” as result of this reconnection. In other words, there is a transformation with you and them. If you had remained where you were years ago without following the path, all these would not have happened.

Level 10: It finally dawns on you: When you start to follow the path meant for you, you can measure what you will lose but you cannot see what you will gain.

Blood Cholesterol: One of the Strongest Predictors of Chronic Disease

Diseases of affluence is a term used in referring to selected diseases and other health conditions which are usually linked to increasing wealth and luxury in a society. They include obesity, diabetes, cancer, hypertension. The assumption has been that increased luxury and wealth result in a better quality of life but this has not really been the case. When wealth comes, there is usually a change in lifestyle and food choices which greatly affect health.

One factor that has really contributed to chronic health conditions is diet. When people have luxury, they tend to switch to western diet and adopt a sedentary lifestyle. These can be disastrous to health. Because the vast majority of people in the United States and other Western countries die from diseases of affluence, the diseases are often referred to as “Western” diseases.

In the course of the China Study, Dr. Campbell and his team compared the prevalence of Western diseases in each county with diet and lifestyle variables. To their surprise, they found that one of the strongest predictors of Western diseases was blood cholesterol.

When it comes to cholesterol, there are two main categories: dietary cholesterol and blood cholesterol.

Present in the food we eat is dietary cholesterol. Much like vitamins, minerals, fat, protein, and sugar, dietary cholesterol is a component of food. Where is this cholesterol found? Only in animal-based food. It is the one you find on food labels. How many organ meat did you eat last week? Your doctor cannot measure that just as he cannot measure dietary cholesterol. When your doctor checks your cholesterol levels, he cannot know how much dietary cholesterol you consume. What your doctor measures is the amount of cholesterol present in your blood. This second type of cholesterol which is made in the liver is called “blood cholesterol.” Dietary cholesterol and blood cholesterol are identical but they do not represent the same thing. Dietary cholesterol does not necessarily turn into blood cholesterol. Hundreds of different chemical reactions and dozens of nutrients are involved in the extremely complex way the body makes blood cholesterol. As a result of this complexity, the health effects of eating dietary cholesterol may be very different from the health effects of having blood cholesterol.

As blood cholesterol levels in rural China rose in certain counties, the incidence of “Western” diseases also increased. What made this so surprising was that Chinese levels were far lower than we had expected. The average level of blood cholesterol was only 127 mg/dL, which is almost 100 points less than the American average (215 mg/dL)! Some counties had average levels as low as 94 mg/dL. For two groups of about twenty-five women in the inner part of China, average blood cholesterol was at the amazingly low level of 80 mg/dL.

If you know your own cholesterol levels, you’ll appreciate how low these values really are. In the U.S., our range is around 170-290 mg/dL. Our low values are near the high values for rural China. Indeed, in the U.S., there was a myth that there might be health problems if cholesterol levels were below 150 mg/dL. If we followed that line of thinking, about 85% of the rural Chinese would appear to be in trouble. But the truth is quite different. Lower blood cholesterol levels are linked to lower rates of heart disease, cancer and other Western diseases, even at levels far below those considered “safe” in the West.

At the outset of the China Study, no one could or would have predicted that there would be a relationship between cholesterol and any of the disease rates. What a surprise we got! As blood cholesterol levels decreased from 170 mg/dL to 90 mg/dL, cancers of the liver, rectum, colon, male lung, female lung, breast, childhood leukemia, adult leukemia, childhood brain, adult brain, stomach and esophagus (throat) decreased. As you can see, this is a sizable list. Most Americans know that if you have high cholesterol, you should worry about your heart, but they don’t know that you might want to worry about cancer as well.1

Low-density lipoprotein (LDL) and high-density lipoprotein (HDL) are two types of blood cholesterol. HDL is the “good” kind while LDL is the “bad” kind. Higher levels of LDL cholesterol were associated with Western diseases in the China Study.

Cancer Prevention

In 1987, a company, Imperial Chemical Industries (ICI), launched Breast Cancer Awareness Month in USA. It is a highly publicized event which takes place every October. Breast Cancer Awareness Month is focused on educating women about early breast cancer detection with a particular focus on mammograms. Its trademark slogan is “Early Detection Is Your Best Prevention.” That may make sense or seem convincing to you but it is actually silly. By the time cancer is detected, it already exists, so what are you preventing then? Breast Cancer Awareness Month says it is about prevention but with its focus on mammograms, are people’s attention not being diverted away from real prevention?

Addictive relationships are always are always driven by the ego. You are “in love” with your partner but on the opposite side, your hate manifests as possessiveness, blame, anger, fear of loss, manipulation, need to be right. That type of relationship does not convey the true meaning of love. It is an unconscious relationship which stems from your attachment to the person. You are trying to find fulfillment through your partner, hence, instead of realizing your individual completeness, you think you are incomplete without the other.

A conscious relationship is not like an addictive one. The love comes from someone who is at peace with himself and is not trying to find salvation in another person. Issues may arise in a conscious relationship but partners do not lose themselves in the issue. In order to enter a conscious relationship or transform your addictive relationship to a conscious one, knowing the following can be helpful:

Love is a state of being: You have been searching for love. That is because you think love is outside of you and when you get it, you will be fulfilled. But love is not outside of you. It is not dependent on an external object or person. Love is not a thought or a feeling. Then what is love? Love is an aspect of the true nature of your being. Love is already present in you. But because your ego dominates you, you do not seem to be connected to the love in you. When your ego (false self) dissolves, what is left is who you are. When you are at home in yourself, being who you really are, your true nature manifests. In that state, you experience the love that you already have. Your love does not start with another person. It starts with you and shines through to others.
Be present: Conflicts intensify in relationships because we hardly live in the present moment. When you lose yourself in a fight, you are definitely not present. If you are present in the Now, you cannot lose yourself in a fight. You feel the need to attack and criticize your partner because your thoughts have taken over you. When you feel the need to attack, anchor yourself in the present moment by focusing on your breath – breathe in and breathe out, and be aware you are doing that. This would stop you from giving power to your thoughts and avoid a situation where you ask, “What came over me?”

Unconsciously, you fear being present because it will lead you to your pain. But your presence has power and with that power it is able to dissolve or transmute your pain.

True communication is communion: Where is the relationship without communication? If you and your partner are not really communicating then you do not have a relationship but an illusion of one. When you communicate, put aside your mind games and emotional tricks. Your communication should be to commune not to win.
Relationship does not offer salvation: When you seek salvation or fulfillment from a relationship, you are likely to suffocate the relationship by being manipulative because of the fear of your partner leaving you. Your being is already complete and so no thing or person can complete you.

Being at one with your Being is fulfillment. It is therefore not when you have a relationship that you will be fulfilled. It is when you are fulfilled that you will have a true relationship.

DNA

Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) was first observed by a German biochemist named Frederich Miescher in 1869. However for many years, researchers did not realize the importance of this molecule. It was not until 1953 that James Watson, Francis Crick, Maurice Wilkins and Rosalind Franklin figured out the structure of DNA – a double helix – which they realized could carry biological information.

DNA is a molecule that contains the instructions an organism needs to develop, live, and reproduce. These instructions are found inside every cell and are passed down from parents to their children.

DNA is a two-stranded molecule that appears twisted, giving it a unique shape referred to as the double helix. Each of the two strands is a long sequence of nucleotides or individual units made of a phosphate molecule, a sugar molecule called deoxyribose which contains five carbons, and a nitrogen-containing region.

There are four types of nitrogen-containing regions called bases: adenine (A), cytosine (C), guanine (G), and thymine (T). The order of these four bases forms the genetic code which carries information to the cell telling the cell how to behave.

The bases of the two strands of DNA are stuck together to create a ladder-like shape. Within the ladder the bases are in pairs – A always sticks to T, and G always sticks to C. These base pairs create the “rungs.” Human DNA has 3 billion base pairs. The length of the ladder is formed by the sugar and phosphate groups.

Similar to the way the order of letters in the alphabet can be used to form a word, the order of nitrogen bases in a DNA sequence forms genes which tells cells how to make proteins in the language of the cell.

Strands of DNA are looped, coiled, and wrapped around proteins called histones. In this coiled state, it is called chromatin. Chromatin is further condensed through a process called supercoiling and it is then packaged into structures called chromosomes. Each chromosome contains one DNA molecule. Humans have 23 pairs of chromosomes or 46 chromosomes in total. Half the chromosomes are inherited from one parent and half from the other. As humans we therefore have 23 chromosomes from each parent. This explains why organisms can share characteristics from both parents. A child might have brown hair like her father and short height like her mother.

Each cellular organism has DNA, although it differs in size, content, and complexity. Scientists have determined that in many higher organisms, only about 1 to 3 percent of the DNA molecule is made up of genes. A gene is a specific sequence of bases that function as a unit, carrying particular instructions for the body (or mind). Our genes can determine a myriad of “traits” including the height of our body, the colour of our eyes and hair.
