Civil Servants in Imo State have read a riot act to the State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, to pay them their outstanding salaries in 7days.

According to them failure to do so will lead to an industrial action.

Leaders of the Workers Union in the State, Austin Chilkapu, Nkim Tangban and Alloy t Iwuanyanwu in a statement said the inability of the State Government to pay them despite their appeal is very unfair.

They said the security agencies should not hold them responsible if they decide to storm the streets and stage a protest.

They noted that there is enough funds with the State government to pay their salaries and pension of pensioners.

Part of the statement reads “All reasons given to us as to why the salaries are yet to be paid is watery and as such, not acceptable to Imo workers.

“More worrisome is the fact that the March 2019 Federal Allocation has hit the account of the State government

“Apart from this, Imo State government has received the LGA allocation for the 27 LGAs in the State, 13 percent derivation fund, ecological fund, internally generated revenue and many more

“Therefore the continuous delay in the payment of workers salaries becomes unjustified

“More worrisome also is the fact that we shall soon enter the Easter season, which the workers need this salary for.

“The money set aside for the payment of pensioners should be sued for the purpose it is meant for.

These ones are in for a long thing.
Rochas has spent the money on campaigns for his family(inlaw, wife and himself),so can't pay and doesn't give a damn now.
He can't even borrow to pay because Ihedioha has his eyes on him and the banks.
Ihedioha too will not likely pay those arreas over his first tenure because he just doesn't have the extra funds. He would be more concerned with paying current salaries.
In summary, those 7 months will remain unpaid arreas for several years, unfortunately.
