So what determines #1 status?

1) Type of clients?
2) Number of websites churned out in a year?
3) Annual income/net profit?
4) Size of company (number of employees)?
5) Stock price (where applicable)?

I mean, you can't just blurt out "we are #1" or "they are #1" without setting determinants. For example, A could do 20 sites in a year, at an average price of N50K whereas B does one site for N1m. Who do you think would be #1 in this case? I say B.

I personally would go with #3, by the way.

No one can claim the number #1 spot. They above named agencies/companies can only be named some of the best.

BTW Yawa, a company can be large with loads of staff and still churn out rubbish.

We have been in the web industry for a little while now and companies like WOO, RIGTHCLICK, and TAVIA don't do 50k websites. These are companies with at least 15 to 20 professionals working with them and when you look at these brands, it’s all about following top web trends and best practices with a turnout of 6 to 10 websites per year; meaning if you’re not paying in millions you’re not talking to them

Which is why I asked in the first place, how do you define "I am #1". Obviously, everyone is going to say that, as a marketing ploy and there is nothing wrong with that but, again, technically/legally speaking, how do you define it?

I wouldn't call any of them number one web development firm,

I believe they should be listed as the leading web development outfits in Nigeria based on their portfolio (not the amount of clients but the quality of work and caliber of the clients), their development process and business process, the caliber of their developers (i mean when u have award winning developers our good) and how well they come up with web innovations and keep to web practices.

@drone just looked unotech's website and it's a wordpress template that alone makes it hard for them to make this list and there site that cut my eye had broken links (Oando) that so unprofessional although i like their sense of design

Number One. Ok.

I have been trying to take that spot for some time now but i gave up, i would rather be like craiglist (the most annoying looking and most simple site, no sense of style or aesthetics but they are smiling to the bank). Right now am try to be the next big thing after facebook abi na tweeter.

Now back to my number one Guy, thank God say NL webmasters have left the beef on the meat shelf, i go like bring my guns and start shooting u down but to what avail, all of us wan chop. So take ur spot as number one but u still no reach. Website development is an art and a science that even me with my years i still dey try understand am to the fullest. Its moving so fast that guy can join in 3 months and start staking claims and forget that there was a time when there was no dreamweaver, joomla or wordpress only notepad. You have to really know ur onions to say u are a web developer.

Just deliver quality and alway improve yourself.

Early retirement.?, I can only imagin the types of illness webs developer will tend to have as they grow older, eyes whahalala from staring at the screen all day, back ache from seating all day and in cohesive thinking, your wife is talking to you and u are thinking where the hang the line code for the jquery app to work.

I really think coders and developers should retire early because they will DV be a bad sight if they continue to over 40yrs which is already over time!

First time I saw the suggestion about unotech being added to the list, I had no disagreements with that cuz I thought they were the ones that came up with the whole flyaero site as their name was clearly placed at the footer of the site (as at a month ago). Well, I am back on flyaero.com and I see the server it redirects to and now I know better.

Insider knowledge info has it that all unotech did was the layout/actual design. They had nothing to do with the actual coding of the site, as their blog would lead you to believe.

Definitely better than the old version. Hopefully dem clean mouth well well for d project
