The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has accused PDP’s presidential candidate in the 2019 election, Atiku Abubakar, of manufacturing results of the last presidential election to prove his case at the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal.

The electoral umpire filed its response on Thursday at the tribunal in Abuja. It distanced itself from an electronic sheet that purportedly contained the genuine results of the presidential election.

Mr Abubakar’s legal team submitted the sheet at the tribunal last month, contending it was obtained from an internal compilation of results on INEC’s Internet server.

The team, amongst other submissions, said Mr Abubakar won by more than six million votes, but his victory was allegedly suppressed by the commission in favour of incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari.

Mr Abubakar was derided by supporters of the ruling All Progressives Congress after the claim became public. Mr Buhari’s campaign also wrote to the police and the State Security Service to launch a criminal investigation against Mr Abubakar. It accused him of maliciously accessing INEC’s files.

INEC’s response

The umpire said it, “does not share information with such an unclassified entity and any information purportedly derived therefrom which does not accord with the result as declared by INEC is not authentic but rather was invented for the purpose” of the tribunal, according to excerpts of the filings seen by PREMIUM TIMES.

In the 291-page response, INEC said it did not transmit results via electronic channels, but used manual collation as stipulated by law. It, however, did not say whether it collated results from across the country and compiled them on an Internet-enabled computer.

INEC specifically denies the existence of electronic transmission of results and it is unknown to the Electoral Act 2010 (as amended),” it said.
Mr Buhari was declared winner of the polls with about 3.9 million votes. He will be sworn in for a second term on May 29.

We expect Nigeria to reproduce when we are using the same old tools. No way. Since 1960! What tools have we used? Military people, in or out of uniform. Except Shehu Shagari. The formal education and training of these military people that have ruled Nigeria does not prep them for the job they snatch. Younger Nigerians need be given a chance. Even if we are not sure the performance would be different, they still need a chance. How many prosperous nations are being governed by people in their 70s and 80s? The INEC know better than to file claim that it's server was hacked. Legal proceedings are not like NL arguments. If you say your server were hacked, it implies the information puportedly obtained is truly from your servers. The issue of hacking becomes another matter entirely. Yes hacking is a criminal offence, but the accused can wriggle himself out by claiming different means of access to the server. What if an insider, or whistle blower has divulged such information from the server.?

When people call una zombie they might be right. Now let me tell you the implication of that claim. First inec would need to produce the results on her server. Now we know it has been reconfigured to match what was announced. But this puts them in a position to explain the source of the inputs. If they answer it's gotten via card readers they have to show us the card readers that produced the accurate result which definitely we know would not match the announced results. However if they claim the figures were made up from manual accreditation, it would violate the law as it clearly stated that no result outside card reader accredited should be accepted. Now do you see the position that has placed you zombies and inec?

this clearly shows u r not in tune with reality. Why do you guys like putting issues upside down. Is comprehension too difficult for you? Ask yourselves if results of any polling unit were keyed into smart card reader. Get it into your head. As the name goes card reader. The only thing it does is verify permanent voters card. It's not a thumbprinting voting machine. It can't record who voted who and how many votes each party scored. Moreover, buhari dissented the electoral bill that stipulated electronic voting. Pdp has goofed on this.

Mumu you see your comprehension challenges. Maybe you check yourself up. How do you explain the number of of votes being more than accredited voters. If 100 persons successfully got accredited in a LGA how does the number of votes valid and rejected be more than the number of accredited voters. Now take a look at the announced results and visit a doctor for psychiatric disorders. Card readers does not store results but it stores valid voters who generated the valid and invalid votes that your Buhari used to steal the mandate. Now show us how you got the figures if they don't match up with accredited voters. Sorry I won't explain further till you screenshot a psych attestation from a competent and qualified medical practitioner. Bye and wait for the analysis in court
