Going Back To The Former National Anthem! by CareTaker1(m): 12:16pm On Sep 14, 2010
We should consider going back for the former national anthem as it speaks more of
our land, diverse cultures, purpose and determination than the one that is calling on self professed
compatriots to arise.

Think about this forum and lets hear your opinion,

And please if anyone knows the wordings of the former anthem, lets please have it posted.

I purposely did not refer to it as the "old anthem"

The present one goes thus:

ARISE O' COMPATRIOTS,
NIGERIA'S CALL OBEY,
TO SERVE OUR FATHERS' LAND,
WITH LOVE AND STRENGTH AND FAITH.

THE LABORS OF OUR HEROES' PAST,
SHALL NEVER BE IN VAIN.
TO SERVE WITH LOVE AND MIGHT,
ONE NATION BOUND IN FREEDOM,
PEACE AND UNITY.

The former starts thus:

NIGERIA WE HAIL THEE,
OUR OWN DEAR NATIVE LAND,
THOUGH TRIBES AND TONGUES MAY DIFFER,
IN BROTHERHOOD WE STAND

,

Please help if your know the rest of the wordings,
this anthem is meaningful and reflects the truth about our nation
