LASU Management Speaks On Diversion of University Pension Funds

The Lagos State University (LASU) has reacted to the publications making round that its management diverted N189 million staff pension fund to buy luxury cars.

The institution reacted to the claim in a statement through its Spokesman, Ademola Adekoya on Monday, April 15, 2019.

According to the statement, Ademola described the publication as false and baseless reports, adding that the university did not borrow money from its staffs Contributory Fund to finance accreditation expenses.

CCT Fixes Thursday for Judgment in Onnoghen’s Trial

The Code of Conduct Tribunal on Monday fixed Thursday for its final judgment in the charges of false and non-declaration of assets instituted against Justice Walter Onnoghen, who reportedly resigned as the Chief Justice of Nigeria on April 4.

The Danladi Umar-led three-man bench fixed the date for judgment after the prosecution led by Mr. Aliyu Umar (SAN), and the defence led by Mr. Okon Efut (SAN), adopted their final addresses.

During the proceedings, the defence, in their final arguments, maintained that the prosecution failed to prove the six counts beyond reasonable doubt as required by law and urged the tribunal to dismiss the case.

EFCC Reveals New Trick Used by Car Thieves

Car thieves have resorted to a new trick to steal cars from individuals and car dealers by issuing stolen or dud cheque.

This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Monday, April 15, 2019.

According to the statement, the commission said it discovered this while investigating the petitions against one Babatunde Oni who is also known as Olu Daniel.

Finance Minister Assures Nigerians There is no Plan to Remove Fuel Subsidy Now

Finance Minister Zainab Ahmed on Sunday assured Nigerians that the government has no intention to remove fuel subsidy.

Mrs. Ahmed spoke during a joint briefing with Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Godwin Emefiele and Minister of Budget and National Planning Udoma Udo Udoma on the sidelines of the 2019 IMF/World Bank Spring Meetings in Washington DC.
