Kay Cee (Kelechi) Madu a UNILAG law graduate and Alberta based legal practitioner has won the Edmonton South West riding seat and he would represent the riding as a Member of Legislative Assembly of Alberta.

Madu, 45, a Nigerian immigrant graduated with a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Lagos. He migrated to Canada in 2005 with his wife who enrolled in postgraduate studies at the University of Alberta.

Alberta is one of the biggest province in Canada and 3rd largest oil deposit in the world.

He is the only UCP MLA in Edmonton and as a result likely to get a ministerial portfolio in the UCP government led by Premier-elect Jason Kenney. Ministers are selected based on geography and clout in the society, Kay Cee will be the only UCP MLA from Edmonton.

Madu's election was keenly contested in a rival NDP dominated Edmonton riding. His opponent Archer, 48, a former journalist moved to Alberta from Thunder Bay and worked as a reporter for CBC for over 22 years.

Another Nigerian Tunde Obasan of the same party UCP lost in the election poll for Edmonton South riding.
