A shameful protest of youths against the EFCC in Rivers State was organised by all 23 LGA's. The annoying issues about the protest are inscriptions like. EFCC leave us alone, we are not the only state in Nigeria. Our governor/commissioners/chairmen are innocent.

Its politics again and the youths are now been used to fight corruption. some of the youth questioned why they are protesting said opportunities like this hardly comes by and they need the money paid to them. The very tactis Odili/Abacha/Ibori etc used while in power.

Allow them to protest, its their call. The more they protest the greater their future would be in ruins!

This is a worldwide shame. How can people sell their conscience for peanuts. In developed nations, once you are accused of corruption, you resign your position immediately and defend yourself of the allegation. Here in Nigeria, it is the opposite, each time the word corruption springs up, you hear people saying it is politically motivated. When the bank chiefs were being investigated, we heard it is a northern agenda. When are we going to face the music of the law without adding sentiments to it.

Bunch of senseless idiots who have sole their future for peanuts. I am very much ashame of my State and the what the Government is doing. If the Rivers State Government think it is not guilty, why not present your officials to the EFCC and let them into your books.

Only the guilty cries foul when no body has said anything.

shocked shocked shocked
The thought alone of people protesting against the EFCC is out of this World, talkless of actually getting paid and doing it.
Damn! Is corruption not the bane of Nigeria?

This post is hilarious and downright regrettable. Are you including Nigeria as one of the developed nations by any stretch of imagination

"There were inscriptions like: “EFCC,The Nigeria Gestapo?”; “EFCC obey Court order. Court is Supreme”; “EFCC please obey the law”; “EFCC Stop Grassroots Intimidation”; “EFCC is not above the law”; “Farida Waziri you are not above the law”; “Adhere to the Rule of Law,” etc.

Some of the posters pasted under the bridge of Isaac Boro Park read: “They came haunting just before the 2007 elections; they are back now just before the 2011 elections. We know the trick, and it will fail now, like it did in 2007.”

Governor Amaechi had protested the attempt by EFCC to arrest some commissioners and local government council chairmen in the state.

He disclosed his displeasure during the Summit on Information at the Hotel Presidential, Port Harcourt two weeks ago, that there is a subsisting court order against EFCC from arresting any official of the Rivers State government.

He urged the agency to vacate the court orders first in line with the rule of law.

Former Governor, Dr.Peter Odili, had obtained perpetual injunction against EFCC his agents and from arresting and investigating him or any official of the Rivers State government.

The court order that seem to immune officials of Rivers State Government both past and present from arrest, curious as it is, has not been vacated by EFCC."

From what i gathered the real issue of the people is on EFCC having a political face and their obeying orders of the courts.
I believe that EFCC should work but not with a clear political colouring.
Corruption must be cut down but the sword should not be used as a tool of corruption to open the way for other obviously corrupt people.

freedom of speech

the youths are sha not attacking anyone in the course of their demonstration

and like it or not we can all see the writing on the wall

mrs president has expressed her displeasure with amaechi i no uncertain terms

there is a clear cold war between amaechi and gej

the man did not show up at the pdp rally

battle lines are being drawn

why else has gej refused to remove waziri if not so that she can hound his political opponents?

anyone who follows the news will hear waziri bitching like an illiterate, hining about how the courts are 'hampering' the fight against corruption.

in her book, the efcc has every right to tap phones / mount surveillance / break into suspects houses etal at their own discretion

You have said it all. This morning, Love FM 97.7 PHC announced in their news that Local Government Chairmen were seen in the full glare of the public sharing money to the participants at Isaac Boro pack, an indication that the crowd was rented.

Most joints and eating housing experienced boom in their business because after the rally, most of the rented crowd patronized them telling people there that they made cool N20,000 just for a rally of 4 hours. Quick money they will say but i truly believe they have sold their moral rights to question the Government when they do the wrong thing.
