The Deputy Leader, Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Barr) Ime Okon, has said the reelection of Governor Udom Emmanuel for another term of four years is worthy of celebration as it was a reward for diligence and hard work.

Barr Okon who represents Ibiono Ibom in the State House of Assembly made the remark Thursday, at his residence in his hometown where he made a surprise cars, motorcycle and generator gifts to Ibiono Ibom party faithful and supporters.


The former aspirant for Itu/Ibiono Ibom Federal Constituency seat at the National Assembly who was flanked by his wife, Mrs Victoria Ime Okon, commended his constituents for believing in continuity and good governance, assured that the next four years of Governor Udom Emmanuel will witness greater development in Ibiono Ibom and the entire State.

“Today we gathered to celebrate God’s faithful in the life of our dear state. His Excellency, Mr Udom Gabriel Emmanuel represents light and the light shall continue to shine in Akwa Ibom State.

"We are people from same family; PDP faithfuls and great supporters of our great party. I want to remind all of us that the governor's victory is our victory because we voted for a better and greater Akwa Ibom", he said.

Continuing, the Assemblyman added: "Permit me to say that this is my own little way of appreciating you for your valiant efforts, support and sacrifices before and during the just concluded general elections. May God bless all of us".

The Ibiono Ibom lawmaker used the opportunity to congratulate the governor and the Peoples Democratic Party PDP and prayed against what he termed distractions.

He said the presentation of the vehicles, motorcycle, generator and cash to the beneficiaries was in recognition of their selfless efforts towards free, fair and peaceful conduct of the just concluded general elections as well as their loyalty to the party.

Those who benefitted from the lawmaker's magnanimity were; Hon Mandu Eduese, Councillor Ibiono Ibom Ward 10, received Pontiac Vibe, Mr Michael Akpan, PDP Ward 4 Chairman, Toyota Camry, a zealous PDP member in Ibiono Ibom; Mr Kokoette Okokon Inyang, got Toyota Camry, while Mr Nse Udoudo Umoh received De- Damark motorcycle and giant size Elepaq generator went to Ward 4 Women Leader, Mrs Margaret Hilary.


Some political leaders who watched the presentation ceremony including the Pioneer secretary of PDP in the State, Elder Ntienyong Inyangmme, the State Publicity Secretary of PDP, Comrade Ini Ememobong represented by his father Mkpisong Ememobong Essien JP, councillors, ward chairmen and other political stalwarts, thanked Barr Okon for commitment to peace and development in Ibiono Ibom.

The beneficiaries who could not hide their emotions took ample time to eulogize Barr Ime Okon for giving Ibiono Ibom people effective and quality representation even as the Councilor representing Ibiono Ibom ward 9, Hon Joseph Udo moved the motion for vote of confidence on the Ibiono Ibom two-term lawmaker.

Highpoint of the ceremony was fervent prayers for Governor Udom Emmanuel, the Assemblyman, Barr Ime Okon as well as presentation of car keys to the beneficiaries.
