Popular Nigerian radio DJ and founder of “Africa’s No 1 Record Label,” Kennis Music, “Kenny Ogungbe,” who is fondly called Keke, has encouraged upcoming artists to work hard to get signed

The Record label CEO in an interview with Hip TV reporter said, artists need to work hard to be signed.

He stated that record labels, this days don’t sign artist the way they used to. Reason being that most artists in the past, would always bridge the contract by wanting to quit even before the agreement expires.

As a result, the record companies are more strict and careful when it comes to signing an artist.

He added that artist don’t know what record labels go through in making a song to be heard; from production to shooting of videos, promotion through various media etc. As soon as the money starts coming in, the artist will want to be independent, believing they can make same on their own.

The current CEOs of Kennis Music are Kehinde “Keke” Ogungbe and Dayo “D1” Adeneye.

Kennis music former artists includes: K.C. Presh, OJB Jezreel’ Mike Aremu’ Tony Tetuila’, Bola Abimbola, Capital Femi, 2face (2 Baba), Goldie Harvey, Baba Dee, Sound Sultan, Kenny Saint Brown, Essence, Fiokee, Vip, Jaywon, etc.
