Igbo's, Let Get Our Interests Straight by Ikengawo: 5:19pm On Sep 16, 2010 |
all the candidates seem to be trying to win our vote solely with the promise of making 'us' president next. but lets be real, anyone that becomes president based on the current system and the current players through pdp will be a pawn of the north or an ex military head. besides, what does having someone of your tribe as president do for the average igbo? nobody is suffering as much as the ijaw and hausa in nigeria, i can easily say they're the 2 poorest ethnic groups per capita and both have had time in the presidency. The north is a barren ghost region in comparison to the southwest and southeast, and they have had 'poor' for so many years. and igbo president isn't a promise of making things better for igbos. a GOOD president is. Since igbos have chosen to sit out this election, we should vote for someone that will do the things that benefit the average igbo. second, if not a third bridge push for more federalism so our states are more independent to excel as they would if the fed wasn't holding us back purposely push for more government support of small businesses more federalism in resource allocation/ allowing us to keep what comes from our soil building more universities (it doesn't matter where, it will be flooded with igbos regardless) repairing roads in the east and more meritocracy in nigeria (in a system based on merit, we will excel the most) there's no need to distract ourselves thinking 'being in power' is going to help us. We haven't been in power since Ironsi and we're doing better then all the other tribes, so lets stay focused on making life better for igbos and not igbo politicians |

That is awesome, it is obvious that Igbo politicians are using the Igbo presidency agenda to pursue their self interest just like IBB is using the PDP zoning palava to pursue his 2011 presidential ambition. |
