It's no news , that the edo based preacher , founder and president of OMEGA FIRE MINISTRIES WORLDWIDE, also known as The restoration Apostle, is a well travelled renowned evangelist whom has journeyed over a 112 nations, and hundreds of cities around the world including cities in nigeria , for his multiple preaching engagements and evangelism .
He has planted churches too in over 62nations in 6continents .

It was posted and confirmed earlier this morning on the church's facebook page 'WE LOVE APOSTLE JOHNSON SULEMAN', just after he arrived Enugu state in a grand style for his Open Heavens evangelical and prophetic meeting with his newly acquired jet . He was highly welcomed as usual .

He just celebrated his 50th birthday. Who knows?Probably he got himself a birthday gift , or rather he was gifted . But with this blessing, he can travel anytime he wants to preach anywhere with ease , as that's the nature of his calling as an evangelist .

What if you knew him in his days of Joseph's suit of many colours? ?

The guy has improved ... .i rate him in the same light as soundsultan in terms of dress sense. They've both improved a big deal

Not every pastor needs a jet... There are only 5 indigenous churches in Nigeria that can be accepted as Jet setting ministries by the virtue of the vastness of their congregations. If you don't have at least 1000 churches outside the shores of Nigeria then you do not need a jet. The ownership of a PJ by a church must be driven by needs rather than availability of funds. A jet is a very expensive vehicle to run, if you can't keep its maintenance cost below 0.1% of church income then you don't need it either.

This is why I'm advising govt to turn CAN into a self regulatory organization backed by Law, so as to check these excesses.
My recommendations for CAN's guideline for PJ ownership would include the following.

1)Any Church intending to register a private jet must have at least 100 orphanages. Of which a minimum of 10% must be located in Nigeria.
2) Any Nigerian Church willing to register a PJ must have at least 1000 branches outside of Nigeria.(which justifies a church leadership's need to be on constant move)
3) Any Nigerian Church willing to run a PJ must have a minimum of any 100 of schools or health centers or drug rehabs or home for elderlies which are either completely free or charge not more than 5% of service cost.
4) Total cost of acquiring a private jet must not

a) exceed 2% of a church's total income for any year.
b) While its maintenance must not exceed 0.1% expenditure of total income for that year.
Section a) requirement can be nullified if the church directly ask for contribution for the PJ as opposed to using already collected charitable donations. Or if the Jet was a gift.
5) Any Church willing to run a PJ must pay all of its payable staff government approved minimum wage.

Churches are tax exempt and it must remain that way. Flagrant display of extravagance would only be an invitation to taxation which would affect Orthodox and catholic churches immeasurably. We can't have a system where churches that don't have institutionalised help ministries run private jets. We can't have churches that don't pay staff well run private jets. We can't explain it to God and we can't explain it to Man.

It is appearing to

Which Church in Nigeria meets these stringent conditions?.

What you have inferred in your comments is purely an aberration and the ink won’t dry before it is consigned to the trash can.

Private Jet is just a means of travel and nothing more and if a church decides to acquire one, no one can legislate on the rights to own property. It is an inalienable right.

If you advocate regulations for the church in Nigeria via CAN, I hope you remember that it is Impossible to enforce regulations when not everyone is a member of CAN

I agree with you completely that private jets are mere vehicles of transportation. And I don't think anyone on this NL has ever advocated for jet setting ministries as I have. However there has to be regulations guiding against abuse. I see abuse already setting in!

And it would do us a lot of good if the church regulates itself before govt attempts to do so. As it is, Kumuyi has already sold everybody out. Kumuyi said he doesn't need a private jet to run a successful mission. And that is a killer reference. Kumuyi is one of the big 5 exporters of Christianity beyond the shores of Nigeria. If he claims he is not in need of a private jet to be mission relevant. It then becomes hard to defend the rest who are buying it.

We must also recognise that a jet is a means to accomplish a more productive mission. It should never be the first thing you buy the moment a couple of billions enter your account.

Also if you claim the church has inalienable rights to expend cash anyhow then government would state her right to collect taxes. And that struggling church in Ogbomoso which is struggling to pay rent would be hit by tax liabilities which was incurred by the irresponsible behaviour of wealthier churches.

Lastly CAN should be transformed into a National Supreme Council For Christian Affairs. It should have three branches consisting of Orthodox, Catholic, Pentecostals. Each branch should have its own rule guiding the definition its membership. Any intending christian ministry must register under any of the three branches and must follow membership codes. The reformed CAN should have powers to license, unlicense and disband erring ministries.

Who investigates/sanctions a General Overseer sleeping with a chorister? Reformed CAN
Who closes down a church whose 'pastor' makes members to eat grass? Reformed CAN

Let me tell you, for every negative news about Christianity, people lose faith in the church and extension Jesus. And until we make the church accountable within Christianedom we are heading for troubled times.

Did you or were you not defending private jet pastors before when your side having it came up? Why the sudden change ?

There is no point regulating the properties of churches. The money being passed around in churches is a tiny fraction of what we have in the economy. Freedom is key is any society. What if a ministry has many stations but very few travels to do. Like an high tech based church that does a lot of electronic media presence instead of the traditional style?

You should understand how tax works. Govt doesn't tax contribution but spending. There is a big big difference between when the church money is being contributed and when the church is spending it. If you tax the church then be ready to tax any group of persons who attempt to contribute funds for any cause. If me and you decide to contribute money to buy an item, it is the duty of the govt to tax that item at either its entry point into the country or from the manufacturer. This is done by making the manufacturer pay tax on profit if manufactured locally or charging some form of import duty. I can't comprehend why govt will want to tax or regulate a belief system. Maybe one day pastors will be mandated to raise the dead before being licences then.
