5 Best Teaching Techniques To Use To Avoid Boring Your Students by bobbyANSELEM: 12:58pm On Apr 27, 2019
Teachers are nice and devoting people who takes their time to teach their students, for the sole aim of impacting knowledge to them. As a teacher, your major aim is to impact knowledge to your students by taking them on the course related to your field of specialties or study for proper learning and understanding.

It’s a shame that most of the teachers we have these days don’t have the full teaching skill attributes which aids or helps students enjoy and understands their teachings.

In this very article I’m going to give out some important guidelines on 5 best teaching Techniques to use to avoid boring your students.

Here We Go.

1. NO BORING LONG TALKS

Ofcourse no one likes boring talks, as a teacher or an academic lecturerer avoid unnecessary talks that may not be of interest to the students. Emphasis on the Importance of the study, don’t deviate from the course of study, as this may force your students to loose interest or cause a bored atmosphere.

As a teacher, when you enter the class, you simply introduce the topic of the subject of the day. After that, you simply move ahead with the explanation and the rest of them. Don’t waste your time talking about irrelevant things or things that doesn’t relate to the subject of study, you may be wasting your time duration and that of the students too.

2. INCORPORATE STORIES AND EXAMPLES WHILE TEACHING

Stories are one time that arouses interest in teaching, and also create more engagement between the teacher and the students. As a Teacher while teaching try to incorporate stories related to the field of study, this will build interest and concentration from the students.

Also try to use Examples and illustration while teaching, this will enhance more understanding to students.

Example. You’re taking your students on a topic on International Buying and Selling under Marketing. While teaching this very topic, try to lay more emphasis on examples relating to the topic, by giving examples on how buying and selling is done in the local market while your relate it to how it’s also done in the international market level. This will enable your students grab more understanding on the subject topic.

3. BE FRIENDLY TO YOUR STUDENTS.

As a teacher you have to be friendly to your students, try to build that friendship or friendliness between you and your students, don’t look too mean or too strict while teaching this may scare your students and may make them feel uncomfortable when ever you’re in class.

But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be strict. As a teacher you’re in authority over your students, you issue out instructions and see it done as issued. I know some students tends to take advantage on non strict teachers, by taking them for granted. As a teacher know when to be strict and when to be friendly, try to balance the

equation. Don’t be too strict or mean and don’t be too friendly.

4. ASK ENTICING INTERESTING QUESTIONS

This is another technique used by teachers to ensure that students properly understood what they were taught. As a teacher try to ask enticing questions relating to the subject topic. Questions that will prompt more engagement between you as a teacher and your students and also create more understanding.

As a teacher, asking enticing questions makes students enjoy your teaching.
For Example. If you’re taking your students on a topic “Trade by Barter” ask questions regarding to the topic, questions like, what method of exchange do you prefer, trade by Barter or Currency/Money exchange.?This will create good engagement and communication between you as a teacher and your students.

5. DONT OVERSTAY YOUR TEACHING TIME DURATION

Whatever you do as a teacher, don’t overstay your teaching time duration. When your time is up, it’s advised you round up and end your class, to avoid boring your students as a result of them being feed up and tired of your teaching due to long time teaching duration.

The human brain has it’s limit of understanding and when it tries to accumulate more than it can store, it becomes tired and stressed out and when this happens, your students tends to loose interest and concentration. Some teachers tends to teach more than their time duration, this is very bad. As a professional teacher try to observe your students, when you notice that they are tired Simply round up your lectures and end your class. You can easily tell when your students are bored and tired by their body languages and faces.
