It was their first defeat in the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with Michail Antonio scoring the only goal of the game.


Spurs are locked in a fierce battle with Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United for the final two places in the top four this season.

Victory over the Hammers would have all but secured Spurs' place in next season's Champions League, but as it stands, they will be looking over their shoulders nervously once again.

United take on Chelsea at Old Trafford on Sunday, with the Gunners travelling to Leicester City.

Last weekend none of the teams gunning for the top four won, with Spurs losing to Man City, Arsenal defeated by Crystal Palace, United thrashed by Everton and Chelsea held by Burnley.


And another defeat for Spurs, who are odds-on to finish in the top four this season, has got people talking on social media about the final few games and what might happen.

But there was a surprising social media account talking about the race for the top four - that of La Liga outfit Sevilla.

The Spanish side are currently fifth in the table, with four games of the season left to play, only outside the top four in Spain on the head-to-head record with fourth-placed Getafe - teams on the same number of points are separated not by goal difference in La Liga.

Sevilla will be hoping to finish in the Champions League places in Spain come the end of the campaign, and they have hilariously suggested the Premier League give one of their four spaces to them, if the English sides do not want to take them, as they are showing with their results of late.

Their official Twitter account said: "Yo Premier League, if none of your teams want 4th place could you just give it to us? Would make life easier."
