The Presidency has stated that President Buhari can rule the country from anywhere in the world.



The statement was made by the Senior Special Assistant to the President, Garba Shehu, while reacting to the 10-days visit President Buhari has embarked on to UK since Wednesday April 24th, 2019.



Garba in an interview with Punch, added that President Buhari can rule from anywhere in the world, and he did not need to inform the National Assembly, so long as his absence was for a short period. It further stated that the president while in the UK could exercise his authority, since his absence would only last for 10 days and not up to 21 days.



In a statement made by Garba, “Section 145 (1)(2) of the 1999 Constitution saying “ This is a relatively short absence. If you check Section 145 (1) and (2) of the Constitution, you will see that the law is only infringed upon when such absence extends to 21 days"
