Unknown gunmen have reportedly attacked a secondary school in Zamfara state, kidnapping some teachers and students in the process. BBC Hausa reports that the bandits struck at the Government Girls Secondary School, Moriki, in Zurü Local Government Area, on Wednesday night, and opened fire immediately. They were said to have killed one man in the process and abducted two teachers and four nursing students. It was, however, gathered that the gunmen were unable to gain access to where the majority of the students were sleeping. The incident, according to report, happened while residents were watching the UEFA Champions league match between Liverpool and Barcelona. Efforts by Igbere TV to reach the village heads and police in the area for comments were unsuccessful. Zamfara State has been under heavy attack by bandits in the past few years. But the attacks have heightened in 2019 despite efforts by the security agencies and the government to address the situation. Just recently, Igbere TV reported that the Federal Government had to put a stop to ongoing mining in the state, and ordered foreign miners to leave immediately owing to the security challenges. Meanwhile, The Nigeria Air Force (NAF) says it has combed and bombarded all areas in the state serving as hideouts for bandits and recorded huge success in the fight against the hoodlums. Though, traditional rulers have accused NAF of killing "innocent citizens" in the process, a claim which did not go down well with the NAF authorities. A committee was recently set up to investigate and look into the allegations. Oh lord...Nigeria is a mere settlement not a country. Like Awolowo said Nigeria is a mere geographical expression, how can bandits attack a location for hours, kidnap people like it is pin they put in pocket. In an area that is a high risk area. What the hell.....the level of security should have been mad but no.lets distribute gun for everyone soo we know that the security of our selves, wife and children is in our hands |

the truth is most people behind this violence never thought it will ever get to this extent. their major aim was to used the violence as a means to get more money to the northern part from the federal government since most money was going to southern part of the country where there is oil, that is why this terrorism all started like a religious crisis when they were killing people and bombing churches and mosques. at a time the traditional rulers were supporting the terrorists, now they are tried of the incessant killing rampaging their territory. they should enjoy what they have supported. |
