Just as many praise the expertise of the Commisioner for Security, Boarder Peace, Dr Kenneth Ugbala, over his ingenuity in handling security matters in the state, Residents of Parts of Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State Capital, namely; Ejiofor, Mbieri and Watchman streets have called on the state government to extend its street lights to them, to curb rising wave of crime which occur in the area at night.

A resident of the Area, Mr James Eze who lamented the absence of government street lights told ‘wawa news’ that despite the strategic nature of the streets, which are called New Lay Out Area, it was yet to benefit from the light project of the state government thereby turning it to become another silent ‘Haven’ for criminal activities.
Eze, revealed that the popular Ejiofor and Mbieri streets would have become another commercial hub of the Area, left for the absence of streets lights, which had forced residents to close shops as early as 7 to 8pm.

He maintained that the New lay out Primary School/Living Faith Church axis remains impassable route every night due to activities of hoodlums who take advantage of the black-out.

Mr Eze therefore called on the state government as well as well as security Agencies to come to the aids of the residents to protect lives and property.

‘Wawa’ had some time ago reported similar alarm raised over similar development within, Assemblies of God, Mbieri – St John Roads, where stories of phone snatching and other robbery activities were becoming a routine occurrence, all to no fruition.
