There are a lot of fake, Tokumbo, refurbished transformers out there that are paraded as brand new and they will usually be sold cheap. Never patronise quacks. 1 Share

They will sell you an aluminium coiled transformer , claiming it's a copper. Everyone in the business of electrification knows that a copper coil is far superior to the aluminium. |

So how do you know a copper transformer from an aluminium? Well you cant . Unless you decide to open the transformer after PAYING. My advice ? Deal with only credible companies and always ask for their ABB AUTHORIZATION LETTER BEFORE YOU MAKE PAYMENT. |

2. THE WILL SELL YOU A LOWER CAPACITY THAN WHAT YOU ARE PAYING. A lot of these fake dealers will give you a transformer of lesser capacity just to make more profit. For example if you ask for a 500kva/33kv they will sell you a 300kva/33kv which is cheaper than the former. So what can you do about this ? Always seek the skills of an engineer to carry out test and assure you that it's the right capacity before you pay. |

BASIC IMPORTANT COMPONENTS OF A TRANSFORMER. 1. The coil : this is a mettalling winded cylindrical conductor inside the tank . It basically generates a magnetic flux , that then induces an elctromotive force also within the coils. 2. Tank: the tank houses all the components of the transformer. 3. Transformer oil : when a transformer is working , heat is produced. The oil helps cool the transformer coil. |
