Ramadan: Buhari Suspends FEC To Break Fast by gistok11: 7:55am On May 09, 2019
President Muhammadu Buhari, yesterday, suspended the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting to enable Muslim members of the cabinet break their fast.

The meeting, which started few minutes after 11:00am, had one break at 3.30pm, during which only three memoranda had been deliberated upon, out of 24 slated for consideration.

The meeting resumed at 4:00pm but deliberations lasted until 6.45pm; just in time for Muslims to break their fast.

According to the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, the meeting resumed deliberations after the religious obligations at about 7.15pm.

The meeting lasted into the night and might likely continue this morning.

Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, who presided over last week’s FEC meeting, which held last Thursday, also suspended the meeting to receive a delegation from the African Court of Human and Peoples’ Rights.

That meeting had earlier been moved from Wednesday to Thursday, because of the Workers’ Day celebration on May 1.

Even though it was earlier scheduled to commence at 11:00am, Osinbajo’s absence, who was out of Abuja for an undisclosed engagement that day, caused it to be rescheduled for 4:00pm. The vice president arrived at about 4.30pm to preside over the meeting. But, after about three and half hours of deliberations, he suspended the meeting at 7.50pm to receive the group. The meeting ended at some minutes to 10:00pm.

One hour in a whole day for God is not bad, people who are castigating him spend more in clubs and gatherings not beneficial to the country, since it's all about the country excluding God.

If I become the governor of my state (Oyo), I'll give no recognition to any religion. But before then, I won't campaign in any religious gathering.

But that won't stop me from being a Christ disciple in my closet.

What sort of news is this? Meeting started by 11am, they had a break by 3:30; resumed and continued until it's past 7. Whats the fuss? When are they supposed to close, 12' midnight?

We have special rulers in this country....Just image what this man is suspending a state function to do....couldn't he have delegated the vice president to preside over the FEC meeting if religion is all that matters to him.

Misplaced priorities it shows this man has no iota of discernment of the myriad of challenges the country is facing or he he plainly doesn't give 2 shi.t about what anyone says or thinks

What is the official working hours supposed to be?

I hope the President will fix a FEC meeting on a Sunday from 7am to 2pm and make attendance compulsory. Let the wailers shout again.

The other time, CAN criticized El-rufai for canceling the schools second term holidays because of disruption of school calendar arising from teachers strike but CAN interpreted it as an attempt to prevent students from being at home for Easter. Imagine that
