The mindset of FASTING came as a result of human hypocrisy! People try to pretend they're sorry for their evil deeds when they actually love repeating the wrong deeds.
God NEVER demanded that humans go hungry for any reason whatsoever! In fact he condemned the stupid practice long ago! Isaiah 58:1-7
What confuse most readers of the Bible is the personality of the writers. For instance at the time Jesus was taken into the wilderness by God's spirit, Matthew recorded it as FASTING because as a tax collector who often accept he is a sinner, the ritual fasting has become part of his life! Matthew 4:2
A thorough meditation on his record will help a reader to grasp that Jesus NEVER fasted at all! Why? Because someone who PURPOSELY went on hunger strike{perhaps as sacred service} need not show any signal of hunger! Matthew 6:16-18 So who or what verified Jesus as hungry?
So Luke's account helped in correcting that misconception because Luke was a doctor who knows the importance of timely food, he recorded that Jesus was taken away by the spirit and during all that period that the spirit was upon him he ate nothing! Luke 4:2
Of course Jesus NEVER intended fasting, that is why his opposers criticised him as a glutton who can eat like die! Luke 7:34 They keep observing him to notice when he or his followers do FAST but NEVER saw anything of such in them! Mark 2:18
Whenever you set a meal before Jesus and his disciples, it's time for food!
That is why there is NO scriptural analyses for fasting in the Bible {time to start or break} because Jesus NEVER thought them how to FAST!
What happened to him in the wilderness has happened to prophets prior to him! Exodus 34:28 1Kings 19:8 Neither Moses or Elijah called it FASTING because they were with God's holy spirit energising them to keep doing things that can't be done without food! Deuteronomy 8:3
If anybody talks to you about FASTING as a Christian, just ask him/her to show you from the scriptures the time stipulated to start and break the FAST!

There is no separate entity called God. Rather, the summation of existence is what is called God Almighty.

In Existence we have war, peace, love, hatred, good, bad, etc. The summation of them all is God Almighty. Looking at God as a separate entity from us is what makes human ask questions like this. For example, people think that Yahweh or Allah is the creator of the universe and he resides in the sky. As a matter of fact, Yahweh and Allah are only a very very insignificant fragment of God Almighty, same as you and I.

Excellent question. Further to this what does a being said to have existed for an eternity need with a specie that doesn't live up to 200years?
