After the Aso Rock Imam came up with a statement claiming that the issue of insecutrity faced currently in Nigeria is a test from God, the Nigerian Senator, Shehu Sani countered the statement, stating the reasons for insecurity in the nation.

"Banditry and kidnappings are not tests from God but sum of the failure of the past and present leadership.Its the ways of the state clergies,to reshape the gospel to comfort and exculpate power;they preach to the poor with flames and preach to the powerful with flowers."
