Carlo Ancelotti has said he will use several youngsters for Wednesday's Carling Cup tie.The manager confirmed four of his emerging talents - Jeffrey Bruma, Gael Kakuta, Daniel Sturridge - will start against the Magpies as he rests a number of his established names with big Premier League and European tests to come over the next two weeks.
While the young lads will want to take their opportunity for a run out, others will be making the most of a night off. Ancelotti has confirmed Ross Turnbull will replace Petr Cech in goal, while Ashley Cole, John Mikel Obi, Michael Essien and Didier Drogba will all be rested.

Carling Cup as a competition has always been marked as a low-key affair as teams especially Premiership teams not giving much importance to this format.

Premier League Champions face Championship winners at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night in the Carling Cup third round tie.

The Magpies have gone out at the third-round stage in the previous three seasons, losing to Arsenal, Tottenham and Peterborough. They have won three of their last six league and cup games this season.

Wenger has changed. He used a sledge-hammer (strong) squad yesterday to hammer Spurs 4-1.

I strongly believe that with this line-up He is expecting Ramires and Sturridge to do the damage and that is very achievable, let's watch and see

Josh McEachran might play depending on second half scoreline.

I think this experiment is necessary considering d fixtures ahead and d fact that chelsea have a smaller squad compared to last season and so need to give these young lads a starting role to boost their confidence for d task ahead. Its a long season ahead with its wear and tear plus injuries & fatigue so Carlo can no which lad he can call upon when d time comes.
