Men of the Nigeria Police Force have averted occupants of the Anambra State capital city; Awka from challenging inadequate power supply by the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company, EEDC.

Inhabitants of the town had thronged the Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square to join a rights gathering, Recover Nigeria Project (RNP) on a challenging walk to the organization’s head office in Awka.

Other than inadequate supply of intensity, different purposes behind the dissent as expressed by the gathering notwithstanding; insane assessed charging techniques by the organization and non-issuance of prepaid meters, among others.

A police source revealed to GISTOK.COM that the officers were following up on a court directive acquired by the EEDC, controlling the gathering from doing the dissent, saying that doing as such would add up to upsetting its tasks.

The convener, Mr. Osita Obi, supported this when he addressed writers. He showed a duplicate of the court order controlling it from leaving on the challenge.

He stated, “We turned out over here to dissent today since, besides the exorbitant charges, the power provided by the EEDC to Awka inhabitants was not a big deal.”

He noticed that his gathering disheartened Awka inhabitants from paying their bills because the charges did not mirror their capacity utilization. As indicated by him, RNP had been fostering against assessed billings for a long time, yet the organization would not take care of business.

He noticed that RNP had sued EEDC in the interest of the inhabitants after a progression of grumblings to supersede collected overestimated bills and inadequate power supply by the organization, yet no positive reaction has originated from her.

“Most occupants in the express that don’t have prepaid meters are feeling the torment of assessed charging. What we are battling for the majority is to address the irregularities in the power part.

So we are approaching the Minister of Power, Mr. Babatunde Fashola to propel the administration of EEDC and its director, Sir Emeka Ofor, to stop assessed billings and encourage the mass establishment of prepaid meters to power customers in the whole Southeast zone.

“Individuals of the zone still EEDC, have the misinterpretation that the is government possessed, though it is a private-claimed organization that makes a benefit.

I support their actions. This illegality of estimated bill should stop. Aba, Abia State is the worst customer service staff of EEDC, every complaint lodge by customers is kept under the carpet.
