Ondo Monarch Begins Mobilisation For Governor Akeredolu's Reelection by Sanromeo(m): 7:40pm On May 12, 2019
Despite the fact that the Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, was yet to make a public declaration to run for a second term in office, the people of Iju, in Akure North Local Government Area have begun mobilizing for the governor's reelection.

The Okiti of Iju, Oba Amos Farukanmi disclosed the resolve of his subjects at the Government House Chapel in Akure when he led his people to worship with the Governor.

Oba Farukanmi who is the eighth monarch to have led his community to worship in the chapel since the programme began some weeks ago stated that his people was resolutely committed the second term of Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu as Governor of Ondo State.

The monarch said the decision was unconnected with the transformation agenda of Governor Akeredolu which was being felt across the state including his domain where all moribund boreholes have been rehabilitated to provide them with clean water.

The Royal Father who used the occasion to table the needs of his community before the governor, said his people would be eternally grateful if the stool of Okiti can be upgraded, get the community’s township roads rehabilitated and the road linking Iju with Ise-Ekiti constructed and also intervene in the boundary dispute between the community and Ikere-Ekiti.

Oba Farukanmi emphasized that his people were convinced of the governor's sincerity to transform the state, hence their commitment to work for his reelection in the interest of all.

Responding on behalf of the governor, the Special Adviser on Education, Dr Olawumi Ilawole restated the commitment of Governor Akeredolu to the overall development of Ondo State but solicited the support and cooperation of the people.

Also the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Deaconess Lola Fagbemi who responded to Oba Farukanmi’s request for the upgrade of Okiti to a Grade A status, hinted that plan was underway to phase out Grade D from the Obaship rating structure in Ondo State.

Earlier in his sermon, the Guest Preacher, Venerable Festus Olushongbe challenged Nigerians to beware of questionable prophets like the biblical Balaam who disobeyed the voice of God by cursing the Israelites for personal gains.

Thanksgiving by Oba Amos Farukanmi and his people and a session of intercessory prayers for Iju , Ondo State , the Governor with his family and Nigeria rounded off the service.
