There is a country
Growing fat in obesity but not developing
Filled with man-pests so visionless
Government places for a rich few
The poor left to strand but the latter, illegal happiness.

There is a country
The little in pocket keep getting empty down to their pot
The large in bags multiply and be glorified
Corruption as a lingua franca spoken through bank accounts
That only thee who speaks this language enjoy bliss for life.

There is a country
Suicide is twin to weariness
The citizenry fed with basket of lies
Which sift out and hit their feet in painment
Oh all we request oh monarchs is a cup of comfort.

There is a country
An epoch you grow and youthful depression grows older right in
'Varsities add recipes to make a platter of stress
Students weep without teardrops but suffer between
Where is my solace? Where is my rest!

.

There is a country
A headquarters for haters and those who envy
That being poor makes you automatically a sinner
School is seen as scam and fraud holier
No job, no care, just politics or you are no believer.

There is a country
Where others we blame for our misfortunes
'Village people' we call 'em who our problems they brew
While we sit and another man's struggle we taunt
Truth as enemies yet we art our own 'village people.'

There was a country
An abode of less ruin; life lived was cheap
May bite often as a bee but home as its hive
Wallet citizens still existed when thou thy purse thy opens
My comfort zone wherein you live and I yet live

Was there a country?
Everyday's pain make yesterday a good omen
No paradise it was, my solemn cry from infantry
Nigeria really was no country; it was a throne to the men
All I ever could know was there existed was a country .
