A clinc is much different from a strip club...you know.

Yea, but a clinic is not residential. The argument of FCTA is confusing: Is the land captured as commercial or residential purpose plot on the Abuja Master Plan.

Sometimes some government officials would behaves as if they think from their anus. The property was meant for a hospital but was converted to a night club, why not return the building to the original plan instead of demolishing it completely.

Well, speaking as someone who works in a hospital....a building for health purposes and a building for entertainment purposes are built differently

Well, considering there are 2 other similar clubs in Abuja.....
the other clubs were also targeted by the sharia government but the outcry of caramelon may save thier ass .

ONLY FOOLS will labour so hard to secure a befitting residence for their family and allow the building next door to be converted to a whorehouse with the attendant negative ,unwholesome consequences/noise/criminals.

well done fct minister.

go and put your strippers club in the pure commercial areas that are devoid of all other activities at night not next door to my family house.

Well, this sounds plausible.
I bet.

So if it was meant to be a Clinic,

Why not give the owners the ultimatum to revert back to the original intent?

How is demolishing a building worth millions of Naira because it was supposed to be a Clinic, which is not even a Residential property, plausible to anyone? angry

the FCTA was well within its rights to demolish the building.

however, a longer notice should have been given & the owner given alternatives of where to set up/continue the strip club.

furthermore, the FCTA needs to clarify if the land was already paid for by either the owner of the club or the person(s) that sold the land (or remodeled building) & adequate compensation paid without delay or the land handed back to the owner to build the appropriate structure (or sell)...

I love my government

where are the protesters supporting nonsense in a residential area

crime and stripe clubs go hand in hand
So, why not demand it be used for what it was supposed to be for?

Why demolish it when it can be converted to its original purpose?

By the way,

A Clinic is not a Residence and NOTHING stops the building from being used as intended..

The reason why Federal Government demolished Caramelo Nightclub has been stated by the Minister of the FCT, Muhammad Musa Bello.

Bello, who was speaking to State House correspondents in Abuja yesterday, said that Caramelo, a popular nightclub in Utako District of Abuja, was demolished in a renewed effort to ensure compliance with the city’s master plan.

He further mentioned that the decision to pull down the structure was painful but necessary to restore the master plan, Daily Trust reports
He said the government was not in place to destroy but that the violation of rules and regulations won’t be tolerated, adding that the business of running a city is a very serious one.

The minister said the building was meant for a clinic but was converted to a nightclub. He said it was neighbours of Caramelo that drew the attention of government to what he tagged “flagrant abuse.”

Bello however assured that government under the present leadership would not stop Abuja residents from enjoying nightlife.

The Coordinator, Abuja Metropolitan Management Council (AMMC) , Mallam Umar Shuaibu, had said that operators of the night clubs contravened the law by converting residential buildings for other purposes.

Shuaibu, at the time of the arrest of the strippers at the club, had said the Department of Development Control had to demolish the fence of the compound as a form of warning to the owners of the club.

. I disagree with you on this decision. We don't throw a baby away with its bathing water. Why not ejecting people there and converting the place to what is meant for? Since it was built according to structural regulation there is no justifiable reason for demolishing it because the premise is being used by prostitutes. It is an abberation.

But they do...

We complain in this country when the laws are not followed, then we complain when they are enforced.

The minister said the building was meant for a clinic but was converted to a nightclub. He said it was neighbours of Caramelo that drew the attention of government to what he tagged “flagrant abuse.”

The neighbors didn't like and want the club where they lived. Some had kids.

If it was converted, can't it be remodelled to a clinic. Even Fed Secretariat Ikoyi was remodelled to residential apartments

We complain in this country when the laws are not followed, then we complain when they are enforced.

The explanation is not clear. On one hand, it was meant to be a clinic. Then two sentences later, they mention residential area. The speed of demolishing that building was too fast. Are they going to demolish all strip clubs in Abuja? That was a whole building that could easily have been converted back to residential. Something is not right.

Demolishing wasn’t exactly wise if that’s the reason. They cud hv had it sold or taken over and the funds given to the club owner to relocate after paying a fine or smtn.

They shud have been given a period of opportunity to relocate after being served a notice. It was unlawful and unfair.

Yeah, the neighbours were going through hell every time the club was in session. The area is supposed to be a quiet, residential neighbourhood something lost on folks who donot live in Abuja metropolis. Homes and noisy businesses are not mixed.
then why demolishing the building? A simple order to stop whatever usage the place has been subjected to would have done this.

Glad to know you consider that Christians love strip clubs....

And anyway, why haven't the two other similar strip clubs in Abuja been demolished?

You guys better stop this Sharia thing. You are making Muslims look more moral than us Christians.

I don't drink or club. The majority of the folks who drink, and patronise strippers, which part of the country do they come from? The same ones who demolished the club for 'flagrant abuse'... The same ones who go to hajj twice a year, with their girlfriends.
