Democracy cant work in a multi-cultural society because democracy is all about the will of the majority, look at Spain, India, Belgium, Nigeria and many multicultural societies that practice democracy, you will notice that democracy is destabilizing those countries because the majority ethnic groups always end up ruling.

lets come home and see the damage democracy has done to us, it has brought insecurity, minority agitating for independent and self-governance, poverty, death, and untold suffering, this is what democracy does in a multicultural society like us, it reflects the will of the majority culture which is hausa/yoruba. It does not serve to integrate other minority cultures. democracy in Nigeria has caused suspicions, resentments, and mistrust because of the perception that one culture is unfairly dominating all of the minority cultures within a nation.

You are living in the same country with people that share almost similar history and culture, but countries like USA havr every race and culture in it and yet... please identify your problem, for your info racially homogenous conturies have never done better.

anyway, the british left power with the northerners, the igbos from NCNC join a coalition with NPC a northern party and were ruling together nationally thus tafawa and azikwe, the western party under awolowo was left behinde the jolly was good until an igbo coup killed both northern and western leaders events led to events which later lead to a civil war which the igbo suffer, now the hausa saw a good partner in the yoruba, (an enemy of my friend is also my enemy)

it seems history can still repeat itself, my point is this democracy is fluid and does not share power equally or give minorities equal rights if only help in protecting majority rule, the more number you have as a group, the more power you have, thus hausa will still be the dominate rule for many years in nigeria because of how the country is being set up, it has nothing to do with tribalism rather with reality.
