A tick is an 8-legged creature, but they aren't spiders. These specie of mites spend all of their time looking for a host to draw blood from or, in the case of female ticks, to nourish the thousands of eggs they lay. Ticks attach themselves to lizards, birds, rodents, deer, squirrels, dogs, cats or even humans to get the blood they need to nourish their eggs and advance through their stages of life.

Ticks use a natural anesthetic to keep their host from feeling their bite, and they continue to draw blood for as long as they can, sometimes expanding up to 5 times in size. There are a great number of deadly and very dangerous diseases that can be transmitted in the moment that a tick bites into a human or animal, and the increasing number of these diseases occurring among humans is why keeping ticks far away from your house and out of your yard has become so important.

People with pets are at a much greater risk of being bitten by a tick. Your pets go outside and rub up against everything in sight, likely picking up a tick or two at some point if there are any in your yard. Later that night, when you are cuddled up with your dog or cat on the sofa, it is entirely possible for one of those ticks to hop off of your animal and attempt to suck your sugar-rich, human blood.

To eradicate tick from your home make sure your pet is always clean and fumigate your environment regularly.
