Suspected Fulani herders have purportedly executed a 35-year-old rancher, Mr. Ariyo Aina, on his way to the ranch at Ogga people group, in Yagba West Council of Kogi State.

National leader of Ogga Progressive Union (OPU) Mr. Bamidele Olure, told columnists yesterday in Lokoja that Aina was killed on Saturday.

As indicated by him, Aina left home for the homestead around 9 a.m. on Saturday, however his dead body was later found by different ranchers.

"There were a few cleaver cuts on his head and body, and we trust it is the craftsmanship of Fulani herders, since they are known for such killings in the territory.

"Aina had a few quarrels with Fulani herders in his homestead over the annihilation of his yields by cows.

"The perished had announced the issue to the police up to multiple times, yet the police had demanded that he given a proof to demonstrate that demolition in his ranch was finished by cows.

"Nonetheless, a year ago, Aina had the option to catch one calf in his ranch and took it to the police headquarters as proof. That was the point at which the police captured the Fulani herders and they were made to pay remuneration to the late Aina," he said.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, DSP William Aya, has affirmed the supposed homicide.

"The episode was accounted for at the police division in Odo-Ere on Saturday," he said.
