The Venezuelan president, Nicolas Maduro has welcomed the Senator-elect, Abia North Senatorial District, Sen. Orji Uzor Kalu in his country, ABN TV reports.

In a verified Twitter handle, Maduro expressed the readiness of his country to strengthen ties of friendship and cooperation with Nigeria.

He also congratulated president Muhammadu Buhari on his re-election.

"I received brother Orji Uzor Kalu, senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. I expressed my congratulations to the recent electoral victory of Presidente Electo, Muhammadu Buhari. We ratify our readiness to continue to strengthen ties of friendship and cooperation" the post read.
