The Federal Government has revealed that a new policy will soon be issued to cut off the ownership of Liquefied Petroleum Gas Cylinders from consumers.



This was addressed at a stakeholders’ forum which took place yesterday in Abuja.

The minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu told the media that this looming policy means that the consumers of the cylinders will rest between the dealers and distributors.

The Minister also noted that an agreement has already been reached between Federal Government and the two original cylinder manufacturers to supply about 600,000 cylinders to major distributors in Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) without paying initially for them but within a period of 18 months, pre-payment must be done.

Meanwhile, it has been revealed that within the next few days, Federal Government would start shutting down all illegal LPG dealers on roadside.
