According to their latest announcement, the company announced that they have developed a flat, ultra slim camera module which has the ability to deliver 5x optical zoom and they went ahead to say that the mass production of the camera module will start anytime from now.

If we can still recall, earlier this year phones like Oppo, Huawei P30 that were recently released, features a camera that is capable of delivering 10x and 5x optical zoom accordingly of which is gaining more ground in the world market currently and it's a big blow to Samsung as a company if they don't try to do something about it.

So, to get a smartphone camera to deliver 5x optical zoom needs some level of engineering and all of us here know that Samsung will not see it as a problem as they have a high level of engineers that can handle this in a twinkle of an eye. Most Samsung users wll be happy to hear that Samsung acquire Corephotonics( the company that are responsible for making optical zoom lenses for Oppo phones).

When talking of feature, the camera module by Samsung features a build which is barely 5 mm thick, this is what gives the module a build that is more thinner than most 2x zoom lenses that are currently in market. This camera module still make use of periscope design which houses many mirrirs of which help to keep things slim by reflecting light sideways while the camera is on use.

With the way things are going now, it;s likely that Samsung might sell the camera module to any other company once this particular one is out and this 5x feature is what everybody will be expecting from Samsung Galaxy S10.
