Cool but it is rugged for school uniform. If u wash those ankara the way we wash our regular school uniforms, it means that u may be changing ur uniform every term even if u have it two.

Ankara is meant to be worn selectively. Regular wearing makes it wear out easily and thereby loses its texture and colour.

Ankara is not a product of African culture.

The largest local manufacturers of Ankara are ATL, GTP , Printex and The Vlisco Group, with its brands Vlisco, Uniwax, Woodin and GTP,

All their factories are in the Netherlands and all their profits remain in the Netherlands.

The Anambra state government is just generating income for foreign investors.

Thank you bros. People just fail to use common sense

Culture is a people's way of life and what they do to sustain and promote longevity of these ways.
Igbos use kolanut for all their cultural occasions does not mean they produce it more than Yorubas.
Finland has maintained their coffee drinking culture without considering the fact that Brazil is the highest producer and that it does not grow in the Scandinavia.

Apply your logic well.

Culture =simply way of life

The use of ankara might be our culture, but never indigenous to us as a people(Africa)....As a result of globalization some culture has been imported into Africa nd so many exported out, hence what might seem to be a norm in a place might not be indigenous to them.

A uniform is any distinct wear by a particular group of people which can serve as a means of identification..

Whether the School wears an Orthodox,Ankara or Game clothes on a particular day,

As long as that piece of clothing is peculiar to them as School,

It is termed a School UNIFORM.. shocked

It's quite funny how the discussion here has deviated from that the poster say students dressed in beautiful ANKARA wears going onto the origin of ANKARA, whether it's from the Netherlands or Ghana

Even though I agree that that Ankara may not not originated from Nigeria, but that doesn't mean we can't make it ours just like Malaysia did with our Oil Palm.

The globally acclaimed KENTE print/textile that we have come to attribute is nothing but a cheap copy of the original KENTE of the Ashanti/Asante people of Ghana which is hand-woven till today and can be as tick as or even heavier than our Ashoke
