Femi Fani-Kayode, former Minister of Aviation, has reacted to Friday’s Supreme Court ruling which nullified the victory of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the last general elections in Zamfara State.
The ruling APC today lost its bid to govern Zamfara State for the next four years as the supreme court ruled that it did not conduct valid primaries in the 2019 general elections.

Also, the apex court validated the judgement of the Court of Appeal, Sokoto Division, which gave the verdict that no valid primaries were conducted by the APC in Zamfara State.
Further, the Supreme Court, in a unanimous judgement by a seven-member panel, decided that a party that had no valid candidate cannot be said to have emerged winner of the recently conducted general elections.
Reacting, Fani-Kayode congratulated PDP on the judgment favourable to them, hoping that the Kano election will also favour PDP.
On his Twitter page, he wrote: “Congrats to the @OfficialPDPNig in Zamfara state for being declared winner of the Governorship election by the Supreme Court. By God’s grace Kano shall go the same way!”

The courts or judiciary or whatever is a stupid arm of this foreign nonsense called democracy. How can any human with common sense accept that the person whom the majority of people have accepted to be their president(via winning election) should be bsubstituted for another person that a minority of the people choose because a few people did not present him. Does that not defeat the whole essence of democracy in the first place?

Indeed, this is a victory for democracy

But he won the election despite that. Majority of people want him to lead them. Isn't that the main primary essence of democracy?

My point is the court is a very stupid arm of this nonsense called democracy. It does not follow common sense or reasoning. It is not for Africa neither is democracy. It is for the people that originated it and they forced it down the throats of everybody.

True, but under the condition that the candidate meets the rules of the electoral act. If it is later found out that the candidate did not meet the stipulations of the electoral act, then it is deemed that they should have never been on the ballot paper in the first place, so their candidacy is nullified

I understand the perspective you are talking from, but democracy itself has laid down rules and regulations guiding any society practicing it as well as stipulated punishment for breaking a rule.
In this case, I think it would be more appropriate to blame the person who broke the rule despite being aware of the consequences and not democracy itself for exhibiting itself.
Your point points are completely valid, but inconsequential or it simply doesn't address the issue at hand. It would have only been valid if there were no laid down rules addressing the situation on ground.

You see? Thats exactly my point. Apart from the fact that the best the courts could do was hand over the mandate to somebody a majority of the people did not choose which makes the whole democratic thing look stupid because it defeats the purpose. It is still the same incompetent process that made it possible for someone that broke the rules to be presented in the first place

I strongly agree with you on this especially the issue of incompetence, but more importantly, it is the people who practice democracy in an unserious way that should be blamed and that why I keep telling people that some of the things we do as humans aren't bad but how we do it matters a lot.
In this case, incompetence like you said gave the candidate involved to even contest.
