The Northern Governors’ Forum (NGF) has told President Muhammadu Buhari that banditry in some states in the northern part of the country is gradually graduating into insurgency. The governors told the president during a meeting on the rising insecurity in the north held at the State House, Abuja.

Daily Trust reports that the meeting held behind closed doors lasted for about an hour. Our correspondent reports that 10 out of the 19 northern governors were in attendance.

Governors in attendance were; Kashim Shettima (Borno), Simon Lalong (Plateau), Yahaya Bello (Kogi), Nasir El-Rufai (Kaduna), Aminu Bello Masari (Katisna) and Aminu Waziri Tambuwal (Sokoto).Others were Muhammad Badaru Abubakar (Jigawa), Atiku Bagudu (Kebbi), Abubakar Sani Bello (Niger), and Abdulaziz Yari (Zamfara).

At the end of the meeting, the governors mandated Governor Masari to brief newsmen on the outcome of the meeting. Speaking on the meeting, Masari said:

“The issue that brought us to the President is about the rising insecurity in the North West, North Central and North East.

North East is known for Boko Haram insurgency but of recent, what was known to be cattle rustling in North West and some parts of North Central has turned out to be something different from what we had before.

“So, this concern made us to come and brief the president so that urgent action would be taken in order to curb this deadly menace of banditry which is gradually graduating into insurgency.

You know the North West with a vast forest area going to North Central and then even going out of Nigeria. “So, we need to act quickly and decisively so that it doesn’t turn into something else like what we had in the North East,” he said.

So the president as usual is still not aware of his constitutional responsibility that he needs to be told or reminded of the deplorable widespread hydra-headed security situation in Nigeria today? angry

Well, it's encouraging that these governors esp.the core northern(NW & NE) one cant arrogantly blame Jonathan for their own self-inflicted problems again.

Buhari's home state governor was weeping before him while the emir of Kastina was asking Godwin Emefiele to help them tell their son president that insecurity in the state have reached a fearful level.

Gov.Kasshim Shettima also wept before Buhari while the Shehu of Borno boldly told president Buhari that the Borno his governor once said is safer than Lagos is of course never anywhere near it.Well, karma is a bitch. It never forgets or forgives.

they caused it to themselves, in those days in the north if their youth commit crime they will cover him up because he is a Muslim and from arewa, if he killed a Christian the will protect him because he is their brother and he killed an arne. that was how human life became irrelevant before their very eyes, today the youths sees murder and crime as a normal thing. if a northern Muslim commit crime today he will be protected and defended but let a Christan or southerner commit same crime the law will visit him, let me tell you a current issue today Evans the kidnapper is still in custody but his counter part that committed the same crime and even confessed on national television of his kidnaping activities from Minna in Niger state called Mai Tulare, if free after few months in police custody ,you can ask google about Mai tulare the kidnapper .the man is back in town building houses here and there he paid his way out they covered him up because he is a northern Muslim.thats the genesis of crime in the north and it will continue
