Economics Courses Make Students Less Generous by Researchclue: 10:24am On May 29, 2019 |
ECONOMICS COURSES MAKE STUDENTS LESS GENEROUS College economics courses have the effect of making noneconomics majors less generous, at least towards nonprofits. Taking introductory microeconomics reduces a nonmajor’s likelihood of donating to specific nonprofits by 2 percentage points, and an intermediate course reduces the likelihood by 3.7 to 7.9 percentage points. It’s unclear whether this is the result of exposure to economics concept, exposure to economics faculty and students, or some other cause. Harvard Business Review www.researchclue.com

Good observation. I thought it was accountants that were the misers. Counting even kobos before giving. Now I see it affects economists too |
