There has been an outcry against tertiary institutions who mobilise unqualified graduates for NYSC

- Shuaibu Ibrahim, the director general of the NYSC, raised the alarm on Monday, May 27

- Ibrahim said that the body will blacklist institutions who fraudulently mobilise unqualified graduates to deter other universities who engage in it

Shuaibu Ibrahim, the director general of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), on Monday, May 27, threatened to blacklist institutions who fraudulently mobilise unqualified graduates.

Ibrahim said that the move by the NYSC will hopefully deter tertiary institutions in the country. He said unqualified graduates should not be enrolled in the forthcoming Batch B mobilisation in June, 2019, The Cable reports.

The NYSC boss said: “Corps-producing institutions are warned not to enrol unqualified graduates into the mobilisation process of the scheme. I advise all of you, participants, not to fall into the temptation of unscrupulous elements that may want to truncate the mobilisation process.

“The NYSC will blacklist any corps-producing institution that is involved in fraudulent mobilisation of unqualified graduates in order to serve as a deterrent to others. As leaders, do the right thing. Let us maintain good integrity and check your data correctly.”

He revealed that online registration for the Batch ‘B’ prospective corps members is scheduled to begin on Saturday, June 1, and end on Wednesday, June 12.

The disclosure was made by the minister of finance, Zainab Ahmed, who however, noted that the federal government is still working out modalities before the implementation of the new allowance for corps member.
