In most cases, the host name is "localhost". In some other cases, the host name is something other than "localhost". Its an IP address. If you are running on cPanel, the hostname is stated on the "Databases" page in your cPanel Control Panel. Bottom line: If the apache server is on a different server from the mysql server, the hostname is the IP address of the mysql server. In cases where you are not sure, use the mysql server hostname given. |
