Face Your EFCC Case, Group Tells Admiral Usman Jibrin

A socio-political group has advised former Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Usman Jibrin to devote his energy and resources to face fraudulent allegations with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) rather than using faceless group to promote his candidacy ahead November 16 governorship election in Kogi state.

TeamNigeria4Change Kogi chapter in a statement issued on Friday said Governor Yahaya Bello has done a lot with little resources contrary to claim of the unknown group which described Bello's administration as worst in Kogi history.

The group noted that the pictures of insecurity painted by the group only exist in their imaginations because the governor has improved the security realities of the state leading to reduction in crime rate across the state.

The statement read

We find it ridiculous, funny and unintelligent for a group to paint bad picture of insecurity in Kogi state when the incumbent governor has improved the security architecture and reduced cases of robbery, kidnapping, banditry among others crimes in the last three years.

It's on record that Governor Yahaya Bello has received commendations from Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies for among other things providing 200 patrol vehicles and logistics support for security operatives working in Kogi state. The governor's efforts in the area of security earned him 10 awards from local and international organizations in the last two years.

We are surprised by the level of ignorance of the Pro-Usman Jibrin group who said only a man with military background should be given opportunity to rule Kogi state. We wonder if they have changed constitutional requirements to aspire for governorship in their paymaster's livingroom over night.

For clarity, Former Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Usman Jibrin is still facing trial in EFCC for fraudulent activities running to billions of naira he perpetrated while he office.

We were reliably informed that the Ex-military chief dumped PDP for APC after his party Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar lost to President Muhammadu Buhari.

Besides, he has always been a PDP apologist while in service and after retirement. Jibrin never participated in any APC activities like campaigns in the build up to 2019 general elections. He is part of Kogi East Elders Forum that directed Igala people to vote against President Muhammadu Buhari during February 23, 2019 Presidential poll. The man who is now fighting Governor Yahaya Bello by proxy delivered his polling unit for PDP. According to result announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission at Jibrin's polling unit, Agudoko Open Space Unit, Okura Ward in Okura Constituency, Dekina LG, PDP garnered 130votes while APC polled 73 votes during the Presidential election.

Therefore, Usman Jibrin should not be allowed to reap where he didn't sow or create bad image for Kogi state despite the gains of incumbent administration in the area of security. Kogi state is now second safest state to live in due to the huge investment of the young and energetic governor towards ensuring security of lives and properties across the state. Likewise, the engagement and empowerment of 5000 people into the Kogi Vigilante Services has helped enhanced community security across the state.

To this end, We advise Retired Vice Admiral Usman Jibrin and his boys to desist from misleading the general public or use unintelligent tactics to promote seemly unattractive candidacy ahead of APC primary election. Without mincing words, the likes of Jibrin need to quietly enjoy their retirement instead of exposing their autocratic tendency to the world in this Democratic era. Murtala Nyako is the last of military men that would dictate the democratic directions in Nigeria as governor just as President Buhari will also be tha last of the stock of ex military in power. Retirement should be what it is retirement

No doubt, Governor Yahaya Bello without his military experience but as a result of his doggedness and cordial relationship with security agencies has continued to provide adequate security for Kogites amidst growing insecurity concerns in neighbouring states such as Kaduna, Benue, Zamfara and other northern States.

We therefore charge APC members in Kogi state to keep faith with Governor Yahaya Bello who delivered the state for our great party by winning two senatorial , 7 house of Representatives and all state house of Assembly seats during the just concluded general elections.
