Football's law makers have had their say on a number of on-field issues and changes will be made heading into next season

This season's Champions League is coming to a close - and it is the last time certain laws will be enforced.

As of next season, nine new rule changes will be brought into the competition, which brings Europe's biggest tournament in line with the rest of the world.

Some of the changes that have been made will be brought in across football around the world, while others are bringing the Champions League up to speed with initiatives elsewhere.

There are changes to substitutions, penalties, handball and even the coin toss.

Here are the nine changes which will come into force next season...

1. Amount of named substitutes

Next season, teams will be allowed to name 12 substitutes for Champions League matches. However, only three will still be allowed to be used, unless a game goes to extra-time where a fourth becomes available.

This law is first being used in this year's Champions League final between Liverpool and Tottenham .

2. How attacking players can influence a wall at a free-kick

Previously, attacking players have been able to stand in the wall of a free-kick and have an influence in that way. However, next season the wall must be stood alone, with attackers at least one metre away from where the wall is situated.

This new law is also being introduced in the Premier League.

3. Restarts in the penalty area do not have to leave the box

Goal-kicks and free-kicks which take place inside the penalty area have previously had to leave the 18-yard box before they can be played by another opponent. That changes from next season.

However, the opposition players will not be allowed to start in the penalty area.

4. Drop balls can be passed back to keeper

As of next season, drop balls can be given straight back to your goalkeeper, as oppose to giving it to the other team.

The team which last touched the ball will be presented with it at the drop ball, with opposing players having to stand at least four metres away.

5. Stricter ruling on goalkeepers and penalties

Goalkeepers will have an eagle eye on them at penalties next season, with at least one foot having to be on the goal-line from now on.

They will also not be allowed to touch the goalposts, so no making the crossbar wobble to put off the forward.

6. Players substituted off must leave pitch quickly

This law was brought into the Premier League last season but will now be enforced in the Champions League too.

When a player is being substituted off, he now leaves the pitch at the nearest possible place, as oppose to the halfway line where the player he is replacing comes on from.

7. Coin toss options change

Even the coin toss is getting jazzed up for next season. Previously, players have been asked if they win the toss which end of the pitch they would like to attack.

From next season, they will be allowed to choose kick-off.

8. Managers can be shown cards just like players

Last season, the Premier League changed their rules to state that management staff on the touchline would also be able to receive red and yellow cards.

This will now apply in the Champions League too.

9. Handball-influenced goals cannot stand

Any goal that is directly influenced by the ball touching a hand or arm will be disallowed, even if it is not intentional in the eyes of the current law.

It applies even if a hand is used in the creation of the goal.

I like the substitution law...imagine walking all the way down to the half way line to hug and blow kisses with your replacement when the opponent is desperately looking for an equalizer or a winner.
