Lagos is an advanced state I would say that isn't necessary cuz less than 4% partake in it.
our problem is our politicians they travel abroad and see how things are been handled over there they come back here and act blind..

No one said Lagos should be dirty but there is a way to solve this than this old method u are presenting.
I live in Lagos too
More PSP truck should be working at night.
Collection of waste is d problem
Task market that is dirty heavily
@ the bolded. See The issue with Nigeria is the inhabitants. Niggers don't wanna work. The night shift cleaners would just sleep all night and get paid and their supervisor doesn't care. Nigger land is fvkd. Shameless black niggers house the shittiest shitholes on the face of the earth aka shithole countries.

Everywhere your see gutter filled up

Who filled up those gutters?

It was humans who'd eat things & instead of throwing into a dustbin would decide to throw it on the road. Which normal human does that please?

That one is what I want the government to curtail. Sanction against it and Lagos would be clean.

No further debate is required, the courts had declared the monthly exercise unconstitutional, null and void. No law can override the constitutional rights of free movement and association. It's a barbaric law and a vestige of military rule, where Nigerians were treated like stubborn children. No other country in the world force full grown adults to start sweeping streets and gutters.

Environmental laws should be upheld, and the government should hire more sanitary officers and design better waste management plans.

We need to ask ourselves a simple question, does it make sense to ground activities in an entire state because you want to clean up? As a CEO, would you place activities on hold in your office because the office needs cleaning. grin

We need a Lagos that is clean all days of the week, not just the last Saturday of the month, and then the remaining days, we’re back to “pig sty” mode, patiently awaiting the next sanitation day. cry

Monthly is very far I prefer that Thursdays they are too lazy and dirty for my liking . If they can't do it, there are young lad that are ready to do it they should pay them to do the work . If they move it to monthly I bet you Onitsha will be better than Lagos 1000 times. I cause they are many crazy people in Lagos than Onitsha .

No Way! Lagos is now too big a city to be totally grounded just for the sake of cleaning gutters. Research even shows that only 5% of eligible population used to partake in Clean ups. Others sleep or read newspapers or have street meetings.
If the government and the PSP do their work well there will be no need for this debate.

I disagree......

Which advanced country dedicates a day as sanitation? These leaders travel abroad but do not bring back the exposure. The problem is not a monthly sanitation day but lack of proper/effective/adequate waste disposal system coupled with the mental orientation of the populace towards waste disposal.

Nevertheless, like for No and share for Yes

I thought about that too, but nevertheless we are not there yet, so I think we need the monthly sanitisation exercise.

It's a good idea, but why is this an issue in the first place? It's an issue because we are all dirty and we can not take personal responsibility for anything.

We collectively trash our own streets and block our own drainage systems with our own hands, the government didn't do it, we did.

Let's start taking ownership of our own bad ways, we want our country to look like Dubai, but we dirty and treat our surroundings like garbage, but in Dubai and America, people pay heavy fines or even go to jail for littering and when they arrest or fine people for littering in Nigeria, we all, yell and complain that it's tyranny.

Fact is, we are not ready to act like civilized people or even do what it takes to make our country a civilized country.

After Barrister Ebun Adegboruwa took LASG to Court for movement restrictions during environmental sanitation , Ambode said Lagos is now a mega city that shutting down business for hours is not in best interest of people.

However, Lagos is presently very dirty. Having written severally about Waste Management System / Environmental Sanitation collapse and Apapa Mile 2 / Mile 2 Seme Road. Yesterday, at Ikeja & Agege I observed All the gutters & drainages have been blocked by pure water sachets / bottle water plastics. It is like that in most part of Lagos.

Lagos State can modify the movement restriction for those on special duties. The population of Lagos is in excess of 20 million with daily influx of people in and out in hundreds of thousands. There should be a concrete policy on environmental sanitation.

so without this law

lagosians can't wake up and Clare the gutters that is around their house

that is why people keep killing snakes in their houses because of dirty and unkept environments

we need to learn to be self discipline

Why should we have OPEN GUTTERS AT ALL IN THIS DAY AND AGE?

THAT is the real question.

If you build the roads and streets the right way, with covered drains and sidewalks, there would be no need to CLEAN GUTTERS and do ''weekly sanitation''.

The street below needs no ''sanitation day'' or gutter cleaning, because it was built the CORRECT WAY. Every couple of evenings a sweeping truck passes by to gather any rubbish on the road. Finish.

The road doesn't have a single grain of sand on it. Because it was built the CORRECT way. Where will the sand come from?

All these so called governors travel abroad all the time. Many of them schooled abroad. Yet they come back with this nonsense about open gutters and ''sanitation day'' instead of replicating what they see there HERE.
