Nine witnesses are to testify against musician Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, at his trial scheduled for October 2019.

Court documents on his bail obtained by The PUNCH revealed that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has listed officials of Mastercard, Visa Inc and Guaranty Trust Bank and six others in its case against the artiste.

The representatives are expected to tender relevant card and account details of the defendant to the court.

Three of the remaining witnesses were said to have already taken the defendant’s and witnesses’ statements.

The witnesses would give evidence of their investigation, tender exhibits and reveal their findings to the court.



Naira Marley was granted bail after 20 days in EFCC holding cells following his arrest on May 10 on suspicion of internet fraud by the anti-graft agency.

He was arraigned before the law court on May 20 on 11 count charge of credit card theft and forgery, but he pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Naira Marley was remanded into custody until 30th May when his bail application was heard.


Justice Nicholas Oweibo who presided over the hearing granted the singer bail to the sum of two million naira.

The trial has been adjourned to 22nd, 23rd and 24th of October for accelerated hearing.
