The locals are simply rent seekers. Their orientation is scarcely any better than that of the northern elite. The major difference is that they are not as obsessed with procreation as the northerners are.

Do u stay in the north? If yes then you must know what alimajiri is. But u may not know the original meaning of alimajiri. I reside in kaduna and wherever u go, you will find groups of very young children parambulating about with plates begging.

But that's the today reality of alimajiri. Originally, Alimajiri is gotten from the Arabic word "al-Muhajirun" meaning a person who leaves his home in search of Islamic knowledge.

In time past, people send their children to reputable Islamic schools to learn Arabic and Quran. These children are taken care of by the Islamic school, the community and the parents.

The problem now is that it's been abused. People give birth to children they cannot cater for them send the to far away states in the name of going to learn Islam. Now these schools cannot obviously take care of thousands (or hundreds of thousands (matter of fact statistics show that alimajiris are in their millions in this country). So these children go out daily to beg for alms looking tattered without knowing where/when the next meal will come.
