Ebonyi State Governor Engineer Dave Umahi has shown his dissatisfaction over herdsmen invasion in many communities in the state.

The Governor blasted the herdsmen mostly those residing at Afikpo North, Onicha and Izzi local government area of the State over women molestation through sexual harassment by herdsmen residing in the community.

In his speech, he reacted over information received about herdsmen and warned them of the impending danger of forcing women into sex in the State.


The land of Ebonyi is sacred, forcing women to sex is a scaring decision as it defiles our tradition and values, Engneer Dave Umahi revealed.

The governor who revealed this while addressing stakeholders of the state during a peace talk between herdsmen and farmers at Akanu Ibiam international conference center in Ebonyi State, Abakaliki Capital.

The gathering which he spend not less than three hours in addressing the herders left him in bitter mode.

He said that there is problem at igboagu, Izzi Local Government Area and isu community in Onicha local government area.

Governor Dave Umahi call on the leader of herdsmen “Miyetti Allah” to know that Ebonyi State have a very strong traditional rules to women especially wives that any Izzi women, weather the man is from Izzi or outside Izzi and he have sex with the Izzi woman in the land.

The Land is defiled and the woman is defiled too because she can not return to her husband house again and any man that did it will never allow to stay in the land again according to tradition.

It’s the same culture all over areas in the state by virtue of culture not by our own political power so raping women in there farms is very dangerous to the culture because the land is cursed, cannot produce crops again and if the raped woman gave her husband anything to eat, the man must die.

So, I call on the chairman of cattle breeders (Miyetti Allah) to assist the government in solving the problem of Isu community where women was raped in her husband house.

The perpetrator of the act both the man and woman must leave for the land to be cleanse before they come back.

If both failed to leave, people will start dying in numbers in the community and if the husband eats anything touched by the wife, he will die.

That’s the culture of the land and it’s spiritual not something any man will manipulate he concluded.
