The Immediate past Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa on Friday emerged the Speaker of the state’s ninth Assembly. Obasa was nominated by Hon. Olanrewaju Oshun, representing Lagos Mainland 2 constituency. The nomination was seconded by Hon. Oluyinka Ogundimu representing Agege 1 constituency. He was returned unopposed on Friday by his colleagues as he remained the only nominated candidate at the close of nomination Mudashiru Obasa, immediate past speaker of the Lagos house of assembly, has been re-elected as speaker of the 9th assembly. Sanwo-Olu, who was represented at the inauguration by Obafemi Hamzat, his deputy, also assured that his administration would work closely with the new lawmakers to deliver their promises to Lagosians. “As you commence the legislative duties it is important to remind ourselves that we are all accountable to the people of the state,” he said. “The essence of democracy is checks and balances and seperattion of power.
