Just like Nigerian leaders played the game of denial until thousands end up in early grave in Zamfara and other northwestern states, bandits have again shifted focus to Sokoto state, and we’re still wishing away the evil. Hiding under the claim that the disgruntled elements will soon stop their atrocities, leaders let these bandits creep into our communities, and kill in tens, scores and eventually hundreds. Over the weekend, bandits struck five villages in Sokoto, launching simultaneous attacks that claimed over 50 lives. The affected local governments are Rabah and Isa, and the victims were buried by the state governor, Governor Aminu Tambuwal on Sunday.
