Power surge has been an issue of concern in this part of the world, so that we now inhabit the fear of it especially after an experience, and the presence of fear, means unrest. Electricity is not reliable in Nigeria, it ceases and is restored suddenly sometimes, these two could take place at almost same time within a second or two, and in the process, one could lose an electric equipment that is worth hundreds of thousands or more, sometimes, the loss doesn’t happen at once, but gradually.

Power surge, also referred to as, voltage spike. It is an unexpected, temporary oversupply of voltage from the power company. This surges, could last about fifty microseconds. Surges are very sharp and extremely brief in operations, a surge could break out or manifest from around one hundred volts to thousands of volts, and when it arrive at the equipment or devices available, the destruction takes place, sometimes at once, or bit by bit depending on the capacity of the surge, but devices eventually get blown up in the process of time if not at once due to tiny reoccurring surges getting through the equipments.

These surges are the causes of damage to electronic equipments or devices. This damage is even more common in Nigeria. Power surges, damages televisions and other equipments instantly, or decreases their lifespan gradually until they’re finally damaged.

In this age that economy is not stable, and money is not easy to come by especially in Nigeria, hhaving adequate knowledge of the subject, power surge and how to manage it and guard against it will save us a lot of money.
There are four manifestations of electrical interferences which power surge is one of them, and it is the most dangerous and destructive among the four kinds of power interferences.

In the area of joules, we've got to think of rating like it's some punch bag, so, it's about how many punches of electricity your surge protector can take before it needs to be replaced, cos when it comes to surge protector, ONCE PROTECTED ISN'T ALWAYS PROTECTED. You must also know when to replace them. After taking a couple of punches from the electricity, they'd need to be replaced, just like the spark plugs, just that in the case of surge protector, it could be dead, and would still be on.


So, 2000+ Joules is very excellent. Surge protection is about how much it could take and keep absorbing the surges.
