29th May 2012 in commemoration of democracy day, Jonathan renamed Unilag Moshod Abiola University which was the first move he made to honor Abiola probably to shift democracy day to 12th June because he believed in due process.

What did he get after the proclamation, the people from same Western state stage riots that MKO Abiola is from Ogun State and why should Jonathan rename "prestigious Unilag" after Abiola, some leaders of thought from west argued that Abiola is never an Educationist but rather a politician so no institution should be named after him.

Due to his kind heart and a man who listens to Electorate, he reversed such plan for peace to reing. Fast forward 2018 Buhari does same thing Jonathan did to honor Abiola by shifting democracy day to 12th June, nobody castigated him rather they praised him and now 2019 such plan has been realised as 12th June is now democracy day.

I believed if it were to be Jonathan that declared 12th June as democracy day westerners will still protest not minding MKO is son of the soil.

Lesson learnt I hope to see a listening, people oriented and God fearing president like Jonathan.

Your blog will definitely die an untimely death with such useless writeup.

For decades, Yoruba and lovers of Abiola have been clamouring for June 12 as a memorial day. Jonathan couldn't achieve it, instead he decided to rename a prestigious university.
Did it change the fact that June 12 wasn't officially a public holiday? NO. Besides, there are many schools, offices, public institutions and streets named after Abiola already, so what?

Renaming Unilag, Maulag will demarket the institution.

The SW states have been declaring public holiday on June 12th for a while now. Nobody would have castigated GEJ if he did same.
