Many Akwa Ibom residents including popular Nollywood icon Ini Edo are in rhapsodies as they celebrate the launch of the Ibom Air airline on its maiden flight.

Popular Nollywood actress Ini Edo has expressed her great joy over the recent launch of the Ibom Air airline.

1. Akwa Ibom government launched Ibom Airline

The Ibom Air airline was recently launched on the 7th of June 2019 and is a state-owned commercial airline operated by the Akwa Ibom government. The event prompted jubilation among indigenes and residents of the state.

The pretty Nollywood actress, who is an indigene of Akwa-Ibom, employed her social media page to express excitement over the launch of the Ibom Air airline. Along with her, many witnessed the historical flight when the first aircraft took off. Hear her:

2. Initial set up of Ibom Airline

The just inaugurated airline as yet has only three aircrafts and will be flying only two routes: Uyo-Lagos and Uyo-Abuja. Besides the actress, many Akwa-Ibom state indigenes were overwhelmed with this great input by the newly appointed state governor, shouted for joy and clapped happily when the aircraft took off from Victor Attah International Airport, Uyo.

The aircraft is a Bombardier CRJ 900 series with registration number 5N-BWM and it headed to Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos. Further, a second flight took off for Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja thirty minutes after the first aircraft left to commence service.

Why many Akwa-Ibom indigenes are joyous about this achievement is because it contributes to the major growth of the state. The Akwa Ibom State governor, Udom Emmanuel stated during the opening, that the establishment and opening of this facility will encourage the growth of the state as investors will be willing to invest in the state now that transportation in and out of state is easier.

The governor added that this launch will also eliminate political differences as both political parties, APC and PDP who have always have their differences will fly together in harmony. Thus, they should all 'learn to separate development from politics'.
