Respect the devil is a sermon that talks about not underestimating the devil.
RESPECT THE DEVIL- Text: 1 Peter 5:8
"Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour."
This is not the respect a child has for his or her parents or elderly people. It is not the type of respect spouses have for each other; neither is it the type of respect that a student has for his or her teachers. It is not the type of respect a mentee has for his or her mentor.
The respect we are referring to is the respect a soldier has for his or her worst enemy. The devil is the worst enemy of all true Christians. He is the kind of enemy that must not be underestimated.


The devil does all he can to convince people that he doesn't exist. He seduces and puts people into temptations.

Who is he? The devil is known by so many names and has so many descriptions.

Fallen Angel (Lucifer- Isaiah 14:12-15): The verses explain how Lucifer, before he became the devil, was respected in heaven and then he was cast away when he moved against God.

He is not God’s equal Ezekiel 28:17 : The fact that the devil was cast out of heaven by God shows that God is much more powerful that he is.

The Devil’s Names Characteristics

The tempter (He seduces humans the way a lobbyist lobbies for something important). Note that he is not in any way like the picture above. No one would want to associate with person like that. He uses beauty to seduce people.

HOW TO OVERCOME THE DEVIL
Submit to God (James 4:7): The verse says, "Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." The devil is a powerful being who has the power to deceive people and make them go against God's commandments. Anyone who has submitted himself or herself to God can easily resist him.
Armor (Ephesians 6:11-12): The verses explain how believers battle against spiritual powers but having the armor of God as covering will certainly provide protection from the plans of the devil and his cohorts.
Overcome temptation(1 Corinthians 10:13): There is a saying that the devil doesn't come in red capes or looking like a monster; he comes in whatever people wishes for. He comes in whatever form that people like most. This means that the devil is able to deceive people through the things they like the most or what they need the most. They are so overwhelmed by those things that they have no other choice than to give in, and that's how the devil overcomes them.
Accept Jesus as your Lord and savior (Romans 8:1-39): The fact that Jesus was able to overcome the devil's temptation shows that Jesus is more powerful than the devil. this means that anyone who has Jesus as his or her Lord and Savior can also easily overcome the devil.

WILL THE DEVIL LIVE FOREVER?
The bible in the book of Revelation chapter 20 verse 2 shows that a day will come that Stan the devil will be bound and locked away for a thousand years.
Matthew 25:41 also shows that an eternal fire has been prepared for the devil and his cohorts.
Surely, with this, those who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ will be able to live peacefully without any interference from the devil. Until then, as true Christians, we need to do all we can to avoid the devil's temptations and traps. The Holy Spirit is a big help in this area.
